Nobody can guarantee that any of the qbs drafted this year will be successful. Even Trevor Lawrence, who knows, he has not played a down in the nfl and might be the next big bust. Nobody can guarantee that this isnt the year brady or rodgers takes a big dive in performance due to age, as Peyton Manning went straight from one of his best seasons to his last. So nothing is guaranteed with any nfl qb. I would rather have maholmes than hill or winston, but would not be shocked if maholmes recent accumulation of hits starts to add up, or if his receivers get hurt and we find out having kelce and lots of deep threats was key to his production. Watson would have been the second best qb bet long term, but now he has legal issues. Probably neither hill or winston will become top franchise qbs because most dont, but EVERY qb can be doubted, some just have more potential to show or continue showing.

I agree with the posters who like the skill set that Book brings to the Saints at the QB position. He has the opportunity to learn under a great offensive minded coach who played QB himself...albeit not very well. Ya'll know the old saying that those who can't teach. Fortunately coach doesn't need a strong arm himself. He's a mad scientist that has great organizational skills to manage the team in the most efficient way. My hats off to the influence of Bill Parcells "The Tuna" on giving Payton the unique vision that he incorporated heavily into his management and player selection approach to running an elite organization.

I can’t wait to watch Winston lead this team on a playoff run this year.

I wonder how the national fake news media will treat the Saints if Winston steps up his game and beats his old team ?

They’ll act like they knew he could do it all along and give all the credit to Payton and the Saints organization for reforming him instead of highlighting how hard this kid has been working this off-season and the sacrifices he made to come sit behind Brees and then come back to New Orleans again when he could have got more on the open market from another team.

Circle back to just last season when the Saints embarassed Tampa/Brady on national tv. The "media" found tons of excuses for Golden Boy & very little praise of Brees.

I'd expect more of the same if Winston has similar success against his former team.

When someone repeats themselves "I don't - I don't" it is often likely they are trying to convince themselves(meaning they're really NOT sure). Or it could be emphasis to be politically correct. After all he's got a grandson headed to nfl in the not too distant future. My take... BS.

When people repeat themselves like that they are usually trying to stress a point.

I. What is Repetition?

Quite simply, repetition is the repeating of a word or phrase. It is a common rhetorical device used to add emphasis and stress in writing and speech.

...

Repetition is an important literary device because it allows a writer or speaker to place emphasis on things they choose as significant.

Not sure where the heck you came up with the "politically correct" angle.

Is that what happened? I thought I heard his only other offer was to sit behind never injured Dak (well, at that time) instead of a situation where Drew was obviously retiring soon leaving a void. Why wouldn't he want to stick around after Drew left when we have such a loaded team with no clear replacement nearby? It makes sense from his standpoint, I don't hate him for it but you make it sound so altruistic.
I'm not sure how hard he's worked and I'm not sure that anyone else does either. If you really watched the video you saw a lot of bad decisions being made (by Hill as well) that I really hope can be corrected, but it's not going to be by himself, it's going to be by coaching and study. Yes, obviously part of that depends on him, but if you think it's entirely on him I think that's silly.
I think both Hill and Winston need coaching up, that and Sean coming up with the right game plan for either one is what it's going to take to keep our playoff streak going and possibly do better.

I am equally disappointed seeing "he will!!" and "he can't!!" posts, isn't it reasonable to have some doubt given the evidence either way?

Nick Underhill was probably one of the first to report JW having more "lucrative" offer(s) elsewhere.

I want to say Jacksonville, Chicago, WFT & San Diego were a few of those teams calling.

I'd never seen anything confirming any of that.
