The more I’ve thought about this the more it doesn’t make sense.

Yeah. I know. Some people always think they know best and ignore science and the advice from doctors. If two doctors told me I had the flu I would believe them not some idiot on social media who is probably uneducated. I guess he was going to show Payton. He certainly did just that. Now Payton might show him the door.

Re: Michael Thomas Out for Start of Season

"After the season it was decided that he was gonna treat that conservatively. And I think we all had an expectation that [the ankle] would heal and he'd be fine coming into camp this year," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Wednesday. "But we get to the minicamp, and obviously it wasn't quite right. So we had to make the call and collectively made the call to have the surgery in June.

"Obviously with hindsight we would've preferred that surgery to be earlier in February or March. But it wasn't. You know, it is what it is. And hopefully he's had a good result so far, and hopefully we'll get him back sooner rather than later."

It sounds like no one was that concerned until minicamp and June was the earliest chance based upon the "wait and see" approach that was agreed upon by all.

Re: Michael Thomas Out for Start of Season

It seems to me that there was a lack of follow-up/track of his progression. I understand completely the idea of letting it heal on it’s own. I don’t follow that it took them this many weeks into the “wait and see” process to realize that the approach was not working. This surgery should likely have been done before now either way.

Spin it any way you'd like, Michael Thomas still blew off follow up appointment(s) with the doctor that was monitoring the injury...

You know that for a fact? I haven't seen anywhere that stated he "blew off follow up appointment(s)" with the doctor that was personally monitoring his injury.

Could you please post your source? Do you know this doctor? Any documentation of said appointment(s)? Did the doctor break HIPPA rules discussing the treatment and/or follow up?

Really wanting to see your proof. This could blow the roof off everything if you truly have a scoop!

Re: Michael Thomas Out for Start of Season

Loomis and Payton's statements seem honest but still seem to have a bit of CYA in them. I think both the org and Thomas likely each have some portion of the blame for foolishly kicking the can (in this case, the can being Thomas' ankle) down the road.

Yeah, everyone putting the blame solely on Thomas is making me role my eyes at them. Although there a quite a few who put a political spin on everything here. A whole lotta "pot meet kettle" going on.
