Saints sign TE Josh Pederson, son of former Eagles coach

With a pair of tight ends continuing to miss practice at 2021 Saints training camp, the Saints appear to have brought in familiar tight end depth.

The team signed former UL-Monroe tight end Josh Pederson, according to a report from Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football.

The last name is also familiar around NFL circles. Pederson is the son of former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pedersen.

The Saints have been down bodies at the position with Ethan Wolf missing multiple practices due to an ankle injury, Dylan Soehner on the reserve list and Nick Vannett absent for undisclosed reasons. Tight end Adam Trautman has been a constant at camp, catching passes each of the past two days in team drills.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Pederson played four seasons at Louisiana-Monroe before going undrafted. He logged 99 catches for 1,191 yards and 11 touchdowns, over his college career, with nine of those touchdowns coming in his junior season.
