New Orleans had 45 sacks as a team last year. That was 8th in the NFL. Hendrickson's Bengals were dead last in the league with only 17 sacks. They really didn't add a great deal other than Hendrickson and DT's Larry Ogunjobi and DJ Reader. |

As I pointed out, the Saints had 45 team sacks last season. Will they miss Hendrickson? If they repeat with 45 or more team sacks again this season, then no. I expect them to do just that. On the other hand, Cincy's team leader in sacks last season, Carl Lawson, had 5.5 sacks and he is no longer with the team. No one else had more than two sacks. Hendrickson is not in a situation to succeed in amassing anywhere near as many sacks this coming season. |

Your comparison of Cincy and the Saints in sacks from last year only tells me that the Saints had better all defensive performance than Cincy did. That was obviously aided by the Saints having a better offense. Time will obviously be the judge, and I’m not predicting Rex gets the same sack total, but your analysis is an oversimplification.
