Re: Luke Johnson | Saints pick Jameis Winston to succeed Drew Brees as starting quarterback

There was never a moment during this off-season or preseason where I wondered if Hill might win the job. It was clear to me as soon as we resigned Winston that this was his job. Besides him being the FAR superior QB, Brees told him it was his time, and the leaders of this team all seemed to allude to wanting Winston to be the starter. The “battle” was a waste of time. People on this forum aren’t enthusiastic about Winston because they don’t like him as a person. Some people reference 2019, but the likelihood of him ever throwing that many interceptions again isn’t very high at all. I’m more excited about this season than any of the ones we’ve had in a long time. We can finally be explosive again.

Right there with you, Rez! Shock and Awe, baby! As huge a fan as I am of Drew Brees his abilities over the past few years severely limited this offense. That's hard for me to admit, but we all know it is true. Winston, by far, is the better option of the two to make our offense feared again. Couple that with an offense that is easily among the best in the league and this will truly be an exciting future.

20-0 Baby!

Jameis has a few controversies in his earlier days and a lot remember this game. But if the Coach can get over it so can we... I'm guessing.
Divisional rivalries always bring out the best and worst.

:D

And you must have conveniently ignored the positive posts on Winston's being named starter. Personally I expect him to tear it up.

Don’t gamble. Positive posts NOT exited posts.

I agree which is why I think he’ll lose the job

Why do you think he will suddenly begin to play poorly? Because of the offensive schemes in Tampa he did have a year with quite a few interceptions (his only year with Bruce "No risk it, no biscuit" Arians as head coach), but he has never played what one would call poorly. He had 121 TD's and almost 20,000 yards passing in his five years. Those are extremely good numbers on a poor team.
