Saints vs Bucs Game Day Thread

1 Attachment(s)
Sunday will mark the fourth meeting between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the last 13 months. The last matchup left a bitter taste in the Saints' collective mouths in January, but can the Saints pull off the upset on Halloween?

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e8/e3...c5873aabe9.jpg

Both teams are dealing with multiple injuries to multiple starters entering Sunday afternoon's games, but have found ways to win despite the setbacks. For the Bucs, almost their entire secondary along with some offensive weapons have sustained injuries, while the Saints are just starting to get healthy, with Deonte Harris practicing on Thursday. But the status of Taysom Hill, Michael Thomas and others is unknown at this point.

The Saints enter this game after an ugly Monday night win over the Seahawks, 13-10, where the receiving core for the Black and Gold had their worst game to date. The defense continues to play exceptionally well, only giving up more than 22 points twice this season, both resulting in losses. Jameis Winston will also be the starting quarterback against his former team for the first time in his career.

Sean Payton trotted out a “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” reference when I asked him about Jameis Winston’s revenge game Sunday against Tampa Bay.

The Bucs, on the other hand, have remained steady and consistent on offense, and even with the losses in their secondary, they've only given up more than 30 points in a game once, in their loss to the Rams. Tom Brady is on pace for another MVP-esque season but looks to bounce back against a Saints team that forced him into five turnovers in two regular-season games last season.

Numbers to Know

2: Two of the New Orleans Saints starters spent multiple years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization. Jameis Winston, who was selected number one overall to the Bucs in 2015, spent his first five seasons with the team, while Kwon Alexander spent his first four seasons with the Bucs.

7: Head coach Sean Payton will be looking to win his sixth straight regular-season game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which would be one win shy of tying the longest win streak over the Bucs in Saints history. Payton is 18-10 as a Saints head coach against the Bucs in the regular season (0-1 in playoffs).

9: Between head coaches Bruce Arians and Sean Payton, the two coaches have a combined 24 years of head coaching experience, and as a collective have nine seasons of 10 or fewer wins in a season, which is an impressive feat. Payton has failed to eclipse 10 wins only five times, while Arians has failed to do so four times.

I've got a really good feeling about this game and I'm putting my money where my mouth is in fantasy ...
Starting the Saints defense (over the Bills defense, gut is telling me Tua and Dolphins will do much better this time)
Starting Ingram

Have a feeling we will play at a level not seen since week 1 vs Packers.

We can't say CSP isn't giving Kevin White more opportunities to make plays.

Imma give him this game and if he doesn’t produce, he needs to go and give someone else a shot

This Bucs secondary is so beat up that Payton should allow Jameis to throw a bit more. He shouldn't be dropping bombs for 50+ since Deonte is out and the Saints receivers are subpar, but I hope Sean opens it up a little.

Who knows? Maybe Kevin White can be the new Ted Ginn/Devery Henderson?:bng:

Bobby Meachem had similar issues as White early on in his career & CSP found a way to somewhat play to his strengths.

I understand he had #9 throwing him the ball, but still.

He gotta do better.

Hopefully, we have a crazy, LOUD, Halloween crowd ready to become the X factor. Make Brady and the O-line uncomfortable at pre-snap.

Not sure why but it feels almost like a playoff game.

I'm definitely ready for this game. I've done all my rituals and I'm dressed to represent head to toe. Headed out the door to my twin brothers house who always sys "you Just said that " after a play but just before the announcers. And I learned it all right here. Thanks ya'll.

This is the game I want to see the Saints click smoothly and surprise folks. Who Dat! :bng:

I'll let ya'll know what's for dinner on Boston's thread.

Tackle him hard right on those delicate ribs :p.

This isn’t really related to our game but apparently Failclowns WR Calvin Ridley is stepping away from football…

League rearing its head in influencing game outcomes...

Just had a helmet to helmet hit late in the New York Jets vs Cincy Bengals game...

The Jets RB clearly initiated the helmet-to-helmet contact and the zebras flagged the Bengals on a 3rd down stop to get the ball back...

League Officials are really becoming a problem; time for the officials to form a union and become independent of the league...

Saw that too. Bad call.

But the damn Jets? With a backup QB.

WTF is Hurst in there over Throckmartin?!?

At least with Throckmartin we were getting push up the middle...

Bad, bad play call on that 4th down. Right into the teeth of the best run defense.

Dumb call in your own territory.

Tampa has the best run D in the league. Play field position, you got a lethal punter.

Problem wasn't going for it - problem was not either having Winston draw them offsides or a QB sneak...
