Saints had 152 yards rushing against probably the best rush defense in the league.

Mark Ingram ran the ball extremely well too.

I didn't have a problem with those late passing calls by Payton. The Bucs were already wise to the outside runs by Kamara and it is super tough sledding against Vea and that front up the middle. That left the pass.

What's been real effective was hitting Kamara out in space, even using short crossing routes to free him up, then Kamara makes those defense pay...

Know you can't go to the well too often, but Sean had early success with that and with Ingram and yet he gets away from it while it's working...

Sean can be too cute for his own good at times...

Does that count the runs from Jameis?

Florio at NBC is pushing the Scam Newton narrative to the Saints. SMDH.

Let's hope the injury is not season ending for Jameis.

Saints RBs had 88 RuYds - and that's with Sean sitting MI for most of the second half...

Throckmartin needs to play LG if we have a chance of running vs the Bucs next time...

I agree. We are a better team with Taysom in his regular role. This team is the typical Saints team since Payton/Loomis got here. They find a way to win. They just have to find a way to carry it into the post season.

I respect Bucs Devan White as a competitor, but he's a borderline dirty NFL player.

Actually, their entire defense went into dirty mode today. As usual, the refs ate a lot of those flags. I thought they were trying to take Trevor out with extracurricular activity.

For those counting at home, we've lost two important players. Taysom Hill (concussion) and Jameis (horse collar) to garbage play by the opposing defense.

When you play good special teams & sound defense, you'll always have a chance. Saints have both.

Shout out to my guy again.

Blake Gillikin - 3 punts on yesterday (158 yards/net 144) 63 was the long & 1 inside the 20. He's booming em.

Hopefully Payton will let him off the chain. Until then Trevor it is.

I disagree with that. The game plan dictates the run vs pass ratio. Payton said himself that the game plan today was to be aggressive which you could see based on the number of pass plays called before Winston got hurt. Payton knew they had to score points.

If Payton really didn’t trust Jameis over Trevor then Trevor would be the starter.

The game plan was the same before and after Winston got hurt. Be aggressive and test the TB DBs.

They were definitely dirty as hell and were targeting both Qb’s after the whistle. I can’t put too much blame on the refs though. I think we got our fair share of calls that went our way and probably shouldn’t have.

Bucs are a very undisciplined bunch on defense & got outcoached.

Bruce Arians is an overrated HC. Brady has made him look good.

Absolutely! He has been carried by QB's his whole career and repeatedly attempts to take the credit for any success personally while placing blame on his players when things go south.

Re: Observations from the Saints Gutty Win Vs Bucs

The post-game presser where Payton makes the point about scoring mindset I don't disagree with entirely.

The problem is you need to run high percentage passes that are essentially running plays that keep the clock going forcing the usage of timeouts by the opponent.

All 3 plays looked like fire drills and were rushed and seemingly low percentage play calls. I'd have to see the plays again to see what was called but it wasn't real organized looking at all. You leave the GOAT with 2 timeouts and a gamble that Def can stop them (like they did) just doesn't seem smart.

I'm more surprised no one mentioned here how Payton noted for 2 straight home games the crowd noise was sort of garbage. Called the Who Date Nation out outright to be louder.

I came here to say this very thing. They kept getting to the Saints QB after the pass was thrown and would still pop them when they had a chance to pull back.

When they picked up the flag after Suh's late hit I was infuriated.

Bucs were given 7 points by that BS overturn of catch/fumble at goal line too. Especially with the call being a completed catch/fumble.

We all know had that 3rd step where the ball got knocked out occurred right as the ball broke the plane that they would have said a completed catch and that the strip was after TD scored.

I'm glad he plays for the Saints for his trash talk alone. Which is good because he didn't seem to play very well yesterday other than his interception. Even on the interception he almost gave it back to TB.

-Season changing win.
-Losing Winston is brutal. Was not a fan of bringing him in. Hoped Hill would beat him out. Winston earned it and was Ballin. I was completely wrong. Hope he heals quickly and the Saints bring him back.
Payton did his best to lose the game. Run the ball. Make them use their timeouts. Geez.
-Loved Husrt at tackle. Not so much at guard. Throckmorton is a better guard.
-Harris is such a weapon.
-Trevor can win for the Saints.
-Ingram is the perfect compliment to Kamara.
-No letdown against the Failclowns!

On rewatch, the spark Ingram provided to the team was huge. I honestly believe White and Smith stepped up partially because of his infectious nature.

I now hate them more than Atlanta. OMG! Typing that was painful.

Does anyone have the video tweet of Davenport throwing Gronk around in the 1st quarter? Maybe Baldy will break this down later in the week.

I see why Rob took the pads off early. MD is a monster & at times unblockable one on one.
