this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm just wondering what happens if Taysom gets injured again, he runs like a freight train but he is susceptible to hard knocks. That leaves Siemian and Book, kinda limited depth I'm thinking....

Re: How is Philip Rivers Done?
Ian Book did break all of Joe Montana's records at ND. He might be good enough.

Strangely enough when the word came that the Saints signed Jameis it was like news from Fungo Land. But time goes by like it always does and I was totally on board with #2 behind center. When Jameis got injured going out on the cart I was totally devastated. When they say Not For Long they aren't kidding. |

Joe Montana's Notre Dame Stats Just pointing this out. ![]() Montana had 4121 yards passing in his ND career. Quinn almost had that much in one season (3919) and had 11,762 yards in his career. |

Re: How is Philip Rivers Done?
I agree. He has potential. But he is not ready to be placed into a post-season run in any capacity. Former Notre Dame HC Charlie Weis said this very thing on Monday when a caller brought up Ian Book. He said he really likes Book, but he has a long way to go to be relied upon as an NFL QB.

One plus for Rivers is that he could almost commute from his home in Fairhope, Alabama.

Palko's NFL career stats: 8 games 4 starts 2 TD 7 INT 60.7 Career Passer Rating. |
