this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The contract is the least of the team’s worries ATM. But Maybe they hope to get an injury discount and resign Winston. That would keep the Hill, Winston, Book band together. I’m not sure that’s a terrible thing. Think back ...

The contract is the least of the team’s worries ATM. But Maybe they hope to get an injury discount and resign Winston. That would keep the Hill, Winston, Book band together. I’m not sure that’s a terrible thing. Think back to the Green Bay game and how good everything looked on offense. Now Add Michael Thomas to that.
I’m not saying it’s the best thing, but having that group of QBs for another year at a relative inexpensive price for the position isn’t a terrible thing. Just a thought. |

Re: Taysom Hill, Saints Reportedly Agree to 'Unique' Hybrid Contract Worth Up to $95M
Just looks like 10 million a year. He does a lot of things. He plays several positions. idk. I think he's worth that. He plays on ST, QB, TE and Lord know what else.
He'll make 10 a year. instead of paying several players 3 to 5 million a year to do some of those. Maybe I'm crazy. But it kind of seems like a good deal. If he becomes a starting QB and keeps it, then he gets compensated for it and it goes up. Otherwise its 10 million a year. |

What he needs to do is learn how to kick FGs and XPs. Then he’d be awesome !!!

If we didn't extend him we would still have $9 million of his on the books and he'd be a free agent. By extending him we have him for two more years and are not out anymore versus the cap in 2022.

A thought experiment for context. Consider the Herschel Walker trade: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Walker_trade That is about the level of talent that would need to be traded for one of these QBs. Please define what personnel the Saints have in players and picks that can match that. Think along the lines of trading all of: Kamara, Davenport, Lattimore, Demario Davis, and Ramcyck, along with multiple first and second round picks. It's not going to happen. We should stop talking/speculating about it. It will decimate the team. SFIAH |

Re: Taysom Hill, Saints Reportedly Agree to 'Unique' Hybrid Contract Worth Up to $95M
I dont like this deal if it guarantees any more money to Hill. I feel like he is Terrelle Pryor, Coby Fleener, and Jahvid Best all in one player. All had their talents, but all burned teams with dead cap. Hill is a QB who is not great at passing and a runner who is not great at surviving tackles. He can do a lot of things, but I am not convinced he will be doing any of them for much longer. Maybe he would be better on defense where he would be able to set the terms of contact and not be a defenseless target catching passes in the middle of the field or getting blindsided in the pocket.

Hill new contract
According to ESPN, Hill is signing a 4 year 96 million dollar contract with nearly 23 million guaranteed. That’s quarterback money. Looks like he’s at the very least going to be given every chance to start next year. No one plays 96 million for a part time Swiss Army knife.
