Observations for the Saints' Road Win vs Jets

Taysom is the real deal... He showed you all the middle finger !

All kidding aside... Feels good the have a win, even if it is against the lowly Jets. We suck less they they do.

No need call Verity for the kicking game !

Good to see AK41 back!

-Kamara is the best RB in the NFL.
-Leaving Hill in for the second half will benefit the Saints moving forward. But, the Saints can't afford Hill having a bad half like he did today and win next week.
-Vannett looks good.
-Johnson need more snaps. Not a true TE yet but definitely a mismatch.
-Winston contributed.
-Having Gardner-Johnson back was huge.
-Throckmorton and Hurst struggled today. They have to play better against Tampa.
-Ruiz is not impressive to me either.
-The Jets are horrible and Wilson is horribly inaccurate.
-The Saints will have to play perfect next wek.

Re: Observations for the Saints' Road Win vs Jets

-Also, the Saints have got to interview and get game tape on a lot of backup quality, cheap players, which will help filling out next year's roster.

Good job on special teams all around kicker, punter, coverage.
Hill did well, love seeing his grin.
Good game for Lattimore.
Love Sean taking the field goal instead of going for it on 4th. Good restraint.

Wish we could get all our toys back...

Of course, Saints need to first stop the self-inflicted stuff first...

If we could just get healthy. No one would want us in playoffs.

If we could play 17 games against teams tanking for draft picks, we could be 17-0. Our problem now is teams that are trying to beat us.

That's what I said in an earlier post; more than half the playoff field will make it into the tournament on the last week with the extra game...

We can't beat ourselves by trying to outsmart ourselves...

I am sooooo confused after reading these two comments.

I'm pretty confident there's not a team in the NFL that is truly tanking. That is purely a fan concept. There are jobs and careers on the line with all 32 teams for everyone from the GM down through the last player on the practice squad. That includes every coach from head coach down through quality control assistants. I have heard this explained time and time again by former and active players, coaches, and GM's.

Here's a good article from 2014 that echoes this philosophy.

Why NFL Teams Don't Tank for a Better Draft Position

There are many others out there, as well.

Here's one by the former player, Geoff Schwartz.

Ask a former NFL player: Is tanking for a draft pick a myth or reality?

Looking back on our 3-13 seasons of the 90's, I don't think it ever felt like we were really tanking. We were just as dysfunctional at the upper levels back then as the Jets are now.

Wilson appears to be in over his head and you should be starting Flacco or White if you wanted to win. Then again, the Golden State Warriors lost a lot of games with Steph Curry, Klay and Draymon before they found their groove and could be perceived to have been tanking in their first 2 years. It's always a blurry topic.

Yeah. Playing developmental players and evaluation at the end of a season is not tanking (ie. intentionally trying to lose for a draft pick). Every player and coach are doing the very best they can to win every game, and quite often they do to their disillusioned fans' chagrin.

It's not over yet. And I never get embarrassed by my Saints. There's nothing shameful about being decimated by injuries. Had we gone through the season unscathed we'd easily have the best record in the NFL right now.

Nothing embarrassing about losing, unless you're the Giants partying on a boat instead of preparing for the game.

Anything can happen once you get in the playoffs. I would rather be a playoff team, it makes you a more successful franchise.

Johnathan Taylor might have a niiiiice argument for that Kamara dont get hurt different convo but Taylor has been playing crazy. I like Vannett him and Trautman might be onto something next season. Johnson def needs more snaps seems like he right there for a big play everytime. Throck n Hurst suck they literally prevented 41 from having a td on that screen. We dont have to play perfect just score more points than the Bucs when clock hits double 00 I feel you though

100% agree. We dont lose ANY of those games with Jameis and at least ONE LT Terron or Ram

Re: Observations for the Saints' Road Win vs Jets

Biggest GM/Personnel question for the Saints going into this offseason will be whether to keep/extend Cam or extend Davenport and trust he will become more durable...

Davenport had a helluva game vs the Jets; when healthy, he's had some great games all season...
