I think this is the perfect example of the Peter Principle.

"The Peter Principle observes that employees rise up through a firm's hierarchy through promotion until they reach a level of respective incompetence."

Dennis Allen makes a great DC, but his strengths are not used at the next level.

That said, I can see a team offering him a ton of money trying to steal him from the Saints as a DC.

He's relatively young too. In the right system, he could succeed as Head Coach.

And Josh McDaniel keeps getting mentioned, and he didn't light the world on fire either.

Yes. My opinion ... and that of many others over the years. He was miserable with the Raiders as head coach. But great before and after as DC.

Of course they won't. There's always someone out there willing to take a chance. Foolish or not.

Yup, as much as I hate to lose him DA deserves another try as HC

If you feel so. We'll see. I expect this offseason will once again pass him over and I really think that's best for his career. He makes damned good money doing what he's doing and he's great at it. Uprooting his family to try to do something he failed at miserably a few years back gains him what?

Yeah, again, AGAIN, I got it. Do you always HAVE to have the last word?
