We are on our 4th string QB who has spent most of the time as inactive. It went like it should have. I'm not disappointed or happy. I accepted our fate for 2021 when Drew retired.

Ruiz and Peat would be a good place to start. I know that they are under contract and we'll need to cut our losses but I've seen too much poor guard play for years. You're right though, we have some more cuts and losses again just like last year getting under the salary cap. This team needs an influx of serious cheap talent that we can develop with these coaches talent and drills.

Last week he was popped by Lavante' David early in the first quarter, then disappeared. Saw him briefly last night but even before he got "hurt", non-factor.

If the Saints want to improve their WR core in 2022, you let him walk in Free Agency. We need a young dawg who can move the chains & catch tough passes in traffic.

Collectively, the worst WR group Sean Payton has ever had in NO.

Because some a-hole who goes around calling himself a wizard or warlock or something has the nasty habit of ‘restructuring’ all our worst contracts so we can never cut a bad player because every year we restructure their deal to make their salary 50 cents this year and a 50 million cap hit if they are cut. We need to cut Peat and Loomis, cap be damned. We need a light at the end of the tunnel not settling to live in cap hell forever.

Re: AS FANS, WE DESERVE BETTER. PERIOD.

It wasn't impressive by any means, but taking everything into consideration - it went pretty much as well as it could have.

The offense was just a shadow of what the Saints could field on the paper if all players were available, so that in mind I can accept that performance and move on.

The same goes for the whole season. The amount of setbacks and challenges the Saints have faced would be insurmountable to any team, and even with all of that the team is looking at a chance of having a winning record. To me that says a lot about the organization, the coaches and the players the Saints have.

Do you guys really think the Bucs' offensive numbers would look like they do if Evans hadn't played all year, Kyle Trask would be slinging the ball instead of Brady and they'd be missing Marpet, Smith and Wirfs on the O-line?!

During the game, a graphic flashed which said the Saints have had 57 different starters this season, which was a new NFL record with two games to go (one when comparing to 16 game seasons). They have a bunch of players on the IR, they've had to deal with suspensions (Onyenata and Harris/Harty), and had 22 players sidelined by Covid against Miami.

I don't know why this game wasn't actually postponed, because I think one of the games was just moved when one of the teams had 25 players on the Covid list, and I'm pretty sure they didn't have as many players on the IR as the Saints - maybe because it was MNF.

All in all, it isn't all gloom and doom. The defense has been really impressive and the offense is fighting for survival with guys signed off the street.

Mine as well.

Is it me or does Payton have more tolerance with o lineman than other positions? Could it come from his QB days?

It's not like we have a whole stable of talented guards sitting in the wings. We had backups or players off the street in three of the other four line positions on Monday.

Did you know?

Just to remind everyone that the NFL has defined itself in court as a Sports Entertainment Business.

It's amazing that a bunch of Supposedly Grown Ass Men have their lives RULED by something they have absolutely ZERO control over!

Something that isn't even "REAL" it's all a show!! Sports Entertainment Business remember?

You guys get together and watch Ole Yeller over and over and over and over and over yet still cry like Tommy Kirk when Ole Yeller gets put down?

Among those names were the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos and New York Giants."

Hey Skymike,

I kinda miss the old days back when I believed the NFL was an actual sport, mostly for the good times shared with friends.

Sitting in the stands in the Superdome, I knew my NFL fandom was over within moments of the infamous no-call.

My family, season ticket holders for decades, hasn’t attended a game since. Some still watch, although with a lot less enthusiasm. My only connection to the NFL is to pay enough attention to discuss the Saints with my mother, who isn’t giving up on her 55 years of Saints quite yet.

This year has only fortified the impression that the NFL seeks to influence games while maintaining the plausible deniability of “incompetent” referees.

Unfortunately, I now don’t believe Superbowl XLIV was real either. The Saints were brief benefactors of the NFL machinations because of Katrina.

Life is certainly better without the emotional high and low of really being invested in being a Saint’s fan but, just like when you discover Santa Claus isn’t real, Christmas and fall just aren’t the same.

I was a fool, but a happy fool. I am a little jealous of the folks who can’t see what I see.

Good to see you post again. Every time I hear you on the radio, I think about Big Woodrow’s and the fun times.

The world has moved on.

Cheers and happy new year.

Hey Gumbeau! good to hear from you.
Woodrow's is a great memory, and so is all my Saints Fandom. I believe XLIV was totally real, just like all the losing we endured. I sat above Gleason's Block in the Terrace & I could feel the Curse go up through the Roof.

The NFL diluted itself 20 ways, but I was done, when all the kaepernick sh** started again. Drew's hostage situation was the last straw.
Its not a boycott. I dont expect a call from Goodell. I just lost interest. I'm certainly not giving money to people who hate.

But it was fantastic being a part of such a huge Fellowship. For a time, the only color that mattered was your jersey. I miss the black and gold caravan
I drove in from Hou to NOLA, and you know, honestly, it was even more exciting, during the losing days, to run into another person wearing Saints gear, somewhere like Shreveport. My biz card still has a gold Fleur.

I love Louisiana, love New Orleans, and my Louisiana/NOLA/WhoDat friends.
We still have our annual Hou-Dat Boil-- you're invited.
And I have no objection to joining the old gang and catching a game, just to enjoy the fellowship again.

Honestly, it just hasnt crossed my mind a lot, because my biz is booming, and I have no clue, when the Saints play, or who they play anymore. - says guy who used to plan his LIFE around the New Orleans Saints season schedule.

Fans don't deserve better. Period. TBH the coaching staff has pulled this season out of their ass. If you give most coaching staffs this roster, they are swinging for the top pick in the draft. Somehow, we are 7-8 and still in contention. We also have some greatly building pieces going forward. If we can keep the defense intact, we can fix the offense in the offseason. I don't know who the QB of the future is(I personally like Trevor Siemian a whole lot), but our first priority is skill position players. Second priority is shoring up our porous line that has been decimated by injuries. Maybe get a TE in there somewhere. We get those pieces, not even thinking about the QB, and we are competing for a SB. We have to do some long thinking and evaluation about the QB position, because that will determine if we can get to our goal and hoist the lombardy after we take care of the above mentioned issues. I personally like Trevor Siemian. I think Hill could be good too. I think Book has potential but he's waaaay too raw and it could be several years before it's ready for him to see the field. Winston played ok before injury, but I felt he lacked something. I feel like our whole fan base is down in the dumps, but all I see is a path to something great, especially with that defense. We had a down year, so what. To win in the NFL requires slow progression towards the goal and smart timely moves. Things may seem like we are down, but we are heading up. We have a great defense and a great offensive coach. That's a recipe to balance things out really quickly.

Not sure what 'OK' is in your book, but he was defintely head and shoulders better than what followed his injury. If he was lacking 'something' perhaps it was SP being a 'Nervous Nelly' keeping the playbook vanilla during those first 7 starts... or maybe some weak links in the OL... or maybe even a lack of consistent WR talent to spread the field? I'll take that 14 TD/ 3 INT guy any day over what we've been struggling with since we were 5-2!

I honestly still don't get why some of us are so lukewarm to JW. The guy has does nothing but be a model QB for the Saints AD (After Drew). That and give us a good chance at getting some W's (when he's not trying to eat them)! What are guys looking for from him?

I don’t know either, man. He was doing fine to me. The coaches and the team loves the guy. So that is all that matters. The team also had a different vibe with him. 14/3 with the same guys that Hill and Trevor had. Multiple TD passing games, scoring through out the game not this goose egg til late in the game comeback when the opposing defense is playing prevent scoring, and winning against good teams. I want him back.

Hitta,

Sean Payton is in the business of winning football games. Trevor is a career backup. He'll come in and keep you in a game but he is not going to win a significant number of games with.

You won't see him under center again as a Saints starter.

It's time to re-focus your attention on the QB position elsewhere in 2022.

I don’t see us doing anything in free agency besides re-signing Jameis and Marcus Williams. It’s imperative that we draft some playmakers. We don’t have the QB anymore to just rely on undrafted WR’s.

I know just what you mean about football not being a sport anymore and how it took away the enthusiasm from wondering how the games would it end. Now the NFL is "entertainment" with a parallel to wrestling. It's fun to watch but the game is choreographed toward a predetermined conclusion.

What gets me is that gambling became legal after it was introduced as entertainment not sports. What people bet on a game where the refs can't make the correct call and it often changes the outcomes of the games? Not me. SMH

We have a great defense and a great offensive coach. That's a recipe to balance things out really quickly.

If a Coaching Staff has to pull a season out of their ass, that's some bad management. Big Money Management has to PLAN for ass-wipe conditions, ahead of time. If a Fan has no problem watching and paying for seasons getting pulled out of the Coaching Staff's ass, that's a special type of Fan I guess. ENJOY THE GAME!!!

Yes to all of this, and 'Saints AD' is brilliant and should be on a t-shirt.
