The whole mess, Brees retiring, injuries, Blovid 19 mindf*ck, Salary Cap, etc., and here we are. It's ok to be depressed, angry. Actually, it is necessary for a Fan to go through this when everything goes pear-shaped. And when I say that this is the UGLIEST in our History, of course y'all gonna talk about the seventies and eighties - but that doesn't make this sting any less. It's UGLY. PERIOD. We did not prepare for this at many levels, and "rebuilding" is looking ugly too. So yeah, gotta get up and go to work tomorrow and hope that it might be less embarrassing next week. Right? Most importantly, WE FANS best not troll on and fight with each other, while Millionaires get paid. We got a lotta Heart. WHO DAT!

Yeah it was ugly, but not due to mismanagement. It's reality. We have to rebuild the offense. Hard decisions are coming in a few weeks. Time to move on from some people.

Offensively, we need a lot (G, TE/WR & Free agent QB) & better depth on the O line. Defensively, not so much. This group is solid.

Saints need to be aggressive in Free Agency & in the draft.

Find a veteran to replace Ruiz. He's terrible.

Every season there are injuries to deal with and overcome. This season is extraordinary due to the added covid problems. Add to that the fact that it is the first season without our leader, Drew Brees. I'm actually proud of the team for playing as well as they have this season. Especially if you consider we lost three games due to missed kicks.

No team in the NFL can account for losing your starting qb for the year and then your backup for 4 weeks after that. You basically were stuck with your 3rd stringer, Semien, making 4 starts. I’m not a taysom as qb fan but even I’m realistic enough to realize that if we had had him for any of those 4 games we lost before his first start that we may have gotten at least two of those. That puts you at 8 maybe 9 wins right now with a backup qb, injuries everywhere, hurricane relocation and Covid wipeout. Not to mention our caps situation before the season. Yes this was ugly, but it could be much worse considering everything I just mentioned. We have two weeks left a real legitimate shot at a playoff spot. You can’t consider this season a failure if this team gets in the tournament.

Agreed. Our coaches this year have all but worked a miracle. I have little interest in the playoffs now for a few weeks. Always fun to hope of course. This team just needs a lot of work. Any real shot we had (in my opinion) went down with Jameis, but he was playing with one hand tied behind his back and a WR group that can't even catch covid...

It was ugly tonight, no question. However, glass half full, are defense has been pretty bad a— since the Buffalo game. Even against Dallas our defense played well enough to win. They have only given up 3 touchdowns in last 4 games. I don’t care who you play that is legit.

We need to realize that we can’t stay in perpetual win now mode forever. At some point we need Mickey Loomis or his successor to work some cap magic to accelerate more of Peat and Thomas’s salary to nearer years with a restructured contract to free up money long term so that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At some point we need to trade some veterans in their prime for picks no extend then with record deals, a formula that has been successful over the years in new england. At some point we need to trade back in the draft, realizing we need more depth because we are not just one player away. We haven’t begun rebuilding, we have still been restructuring contracts to free up every dollar to win now with no regard to tomorrow. We need to realize its time to rebuild. Not to double down on veterans like peat, thomas, and hill who if they have one good year left, it will probably come too soon for when we can get out of cap hell to put a team around them.

Thomas, smith, armstead and peat need to go. On the defensive side I would let Davenport walk. I know it’s tough because he’s playing well but the guy just doesn’t stay healthy. See Christian mccaffery. But all is for not if you don’t have the right guy directing the offense. Not sure who that will be but that is priority one right now. Who would y’all like to see. I’m all in on care or Wilson just not sure if we could afford either one.

We were doomed when Slant Boy went MIA over the spring/summer. The team was caught woefully unprepared to usher in the new era on offense.

Not happening with Davenport. Premium pass rushers are hard to come by & no way the Saints brass will allow him to walk.

Wilson, ARod, probably pipe dreams + it's gonna cost you too much draft capital. Thomas isn't going anywhere but I'd let Trequan & Stills walk.

Get better O-line depth & draft another G. The Saints offseason will be interesting.

I think Siemian is our best QB, but the problem is that there is no way to effectively evaluate that because the players around our QBs are horrible.

You have to play the hand you are dealt! All Saints Fans all knew when Brees left things weren't going to be the same. There is a reason talent like his is called "Generational" and that doesn't mean they are the #1 selection in the Draft. Ask the J - E -T - S, JETS, JETS, JETS and THE LIONS.

Thoughts from the game:

- Seems like the Dolphins out-coached us on both sides of the ball. Dolphins seem to be a organized team without many big names but they play hard. I am envious of the pistol playbook they use - I hope in coming years we add that to our arsenal because I think our running game and Jameis/Hill/Book would fare better if we had more pistol and less shotgun.

- Gotta wear the gold pants more. As of late they have the mojo. And they look so much damn better.

- Related to the above, more concerns with the playcalling. I thought we used too much shotgun and would have been better served having Ian under center and keeping the defense guessing if they were defending a run or a rollout pass. I also don't think we ran off tackle or to the outside enough to get the most out of Kamara.

- That was the worst OL play I remember seeing in the CSP era. It looked like David Carr Texans era blocking :(. I know they are a MASH unit, but even for that it looked pretty bad. Need Ramcyzk back in particular ASAP.

- There seems to be a pattern where we expend a ton of effort beating Tampa and then we look drained the next week. The defense played fairly well, but the tackling was spotty.

- This guy in the midwest wearing an Ian Book jersey had a good night of cuddling and talking with his wife later last night. So all in all things weren't so bad for me.

My 24yr old nephew's experience as a Saints' fan is far different from mine. He's only known the Brees/Payton era of winning. Some of us old goats were hopeful & optimistic but deep down we knew this magic carpet ride was over when Brees hung up his cleats.
And like you, I'm also very disappointed about last night's performance. But I also realize the NFL should've never allowed this game to be played while we had 20+ players & 4 coaches out with Covid protocols. No team in this league could've won last night if they were missing the same key players.

The front office needs to decide this off-season what direction we’re going to go in. We need to be all in or blow it up. Coming into this season it felt like we were stuck in between and the result is a predictable 500 team. We restructured some contracts to keep some starters but that left us with one of the thinnest rosters in the league and a question mark at the most important position. We also missed in the draft this year which further added to the lack of depth. Unfortunately this year with COVID wreaking havoc, our lack of depth was magnified and wound up costing us the season.

This offseason I say we go after Russell Wilson or clean house. If we go after Russ we have the defense and we can restructure some contracts. With Russ and this defense, MT will come back and we should be able to bring in some quality vets at a decent price similar to what Tampa did once they signed Brady.

Or, we start cleaning house and getting out of some of these contracts. Get under the cap and rebuild this team.

What we can’t do is tread water to be a pretty good team and as long as we don’t have a top tier QB we’re going to stuck in the middle of the pack. It’s going to be a big offseason for this front office and I’m curious to see how it all plays out.

Terron Armstead is going to leave in free agency… Which sucks because we’ve restructured his contract so many times that he’ll leave $13 million in dead cap. We’ll move Ramczyk to LT and James Hurst will likely be the favorite to play RT.

Peat and Ruiz aren’t going anywhere. They’ll be starting next season.

If we re-sign Jameis we can focus on getting some top-tier pass catchers to get the offense humming again.

A big factor will be the potential return and effectiveness of Thomas. Still have heard crickets about how his injury rehab is going. He should change his handle from CGM to CFM...” can’t find Mike“! But if he does come back healthy that goes a long way to fixing a receiving corps

calls or the D plays nearly as well as it did against Tampa or last night then they beat the titans and the atlanta chickens and Trevor is 2-2.

It's been rough, but it'd be soooo much worse without this defense and without Payton. Don't even go there. Without Payton this would be a 3 win team, tops.

I’m not 100% sure we shouldn’t role with Book the rest of the way and put Semion as #2 and Taysom in his regular role. Taysom would take some pressure off Book. Our offensive line will be healthier next week too. We really don’t have much to lose and Book didn’t seem panicked at all in spit of having to run for his life all night. His parents on the other hand looked horrified.
You know you are in bad shape when you have a Qb who can’t get his parents seats better than nose bleeds.

THIS team yes. But the team that was 5-2 and beating Tampa is not THIS team. After all the crap that has hit the team this year, they are in the playoff hunt with two games left. I’m actually impressed. The fact that last
night’s game was allowed to go on is a travesty. The stat popped up that the team has set a record by having had 57 different starters I believe it was (maybe off) this season. With 4 different starting QBs? This has been a
great season coaching by Payton IMO. In fact, I think the extra issues he has had to deal with has impacted his on-field play calling. Just my thoughts.

None of those other teams have dealt with near the "reality" that the Saints have dealt with this season. If fact, no team in history has. I read last night that the Saints set an NFL record with 56 different starting players in a single season. 56!
