Re: AS FANS, WE DESERVE BETTER. PERIOD.
It's not like we have a whole stable of talented guards sitting in the wings. We had backups or players off the street in three of the other four line positions on Monday.

Did you know?
Just to remind everyone that the NFL has defined itself in court as a Sports Entertainment Business. It's amazing that a bunch of Supposedly Grown Ass Men have their lives RULED by something they have absolutely ZERO control over! Something that isn't even "REAL" it's all a show!! Sports Entertainment Business remember? You guys get together and watch Ole Yeller over and over and over and over and over yet still cry like Tommy Kirk when Ole Yeller gets put down? |

https://blackandgold.com/saints/9777...ound-pick.html (Saints draft Michigan C/G Cesar Ruiz with first-round pick)
https://blackandgold.com/saints/9776...thread-36.html (Saints Draft Days Official Thread) WOOF I didn't think he was going to be this bad but I've never been a proponent of taking interior lineman early. Those big uglies are a plenty in the mid rounds. |

I guess Ruiz is the new whipping boy now that Peat is on a long time IR and Daveport is performing like a 1st rounder.

here is one for that Guido dude....
"Not long after a report emerged regardings teams currently vetted by Wilson as potential trade destinations, the quarterback spoke out to consider the scenario as no more than theoretical, according to Broncos Wire. Among those names were the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos and New York Giants." from this article: https://www.foxnews.com/sports/russe...ks-next-season |

Some still watch, although with a lot less enthusiasm. My only connection to the NFL is to pay enough attention to discuss the Saints with my mother, who isn’t giving up on her 55 years of Saints quite yet. This year has only fortified the impression that the NFL seeks to influence games while maintaining the plausible deniability of “incompetent” referees. Unfortunately, I now don’t believe Superbowl XLIV was real either. The Saints were brief benefactors of the NFL machinations because of Katrina. Life is certainly better without the emotional high and low of really being invested in being a Saint’s fan but, just like when you discover Santa Claus isn’t real, Christmas and fall just aren’t the same. I was a fool, but a happy fool. I am a little jealous of the folks who can’t see what I see. Good to see you post again. Every time I hear you on the radio, I think about Big Woodrow’s and the fun times. The world has moved on. Cheers and happy new year. |

Woodrow's is a great memory, and so is all my Saints Fandom. I believe XLIV was totally real, just like all the losing we endured. I sat above Gleason's Block in the Terrace & I could feel the Curse go up through the Roof. The NFL diluted itself 20 ways, but I was done, when all the kaepernick sh** started again. Drew's hostage situation was the last straw. Its not a boycott. I dont expect a call from Goodell. I just lost interest. I'm certainly not giving money to people who hate. But it was fantastic being a part of such a huge Fellowship. For a time, the only color that mattered was your jersey. I miss the black and gold caravan I drove in from Hou to NOLA, and you know, honestly, it was even more exciting, during the losing days, to run into another person wearing Saints gear, somewhere like Shreveport. My biz card still has a gold Fleur. I love Louisiana, love New Orleans, and my Louisiana/NOLA/WhoDat friends. We still have our annual Hou-Dat Boil-- you're invited. And I have no objection to joining the old gang and catching a game, just to enjoy the fellowship again. Honestly, it just hasnt crossed my mind a lot, because my biz is booming, and I have no clue, when the Saints play, or who they play anymore. - says guy who used to plan his LIFE around the New Orleans Saints season schedule. |

I don't know who the QB of the future is(I personally like Trevor Siemian a whole lot), but our first priority is skill position players. Second priority is shoring up our porous line that has been decimated by injuries. Maybe get a TE in there somewhere. We get those pieces, not even thinking about the QB, and we are competing for a SB. We have to do some long thinking and evaluation about the QB position, because that will determine if we can get to our goal and hoist the lombardy after we take care of the above mentioned issues. I personally like Trevor Siemian. I think Hill could be good too. I think Book has potential but he's waaaay too raw and it could be several years before it's ready for him to see the field. Winston played ok before injury, but I felt he lacked something. I feel like our whole fan base is down in the dumps, but all I see is a path to something great, especially with that defense. We had a down year, so what. To win in the NFL requires slow progression towards the goal and smart timely moves. Things may seem like we are down, but we are heading up. We have a great defense and a great offensive coach. That's a recipe to balance things out really quickly.
