Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
WE WON!
And scored a TD. Game ball to the defense. That is all. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
It's the Dome Patrol days all over again. Great defense with subpar offense.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
I don’t think there’s really much to glean from that one that we didn’t already know.
The offense needs a complete makeover; and I’m starting to think it won’t be do-able in one offseason. CJGJ will be eligible for a new deal and you bet your ass he’s going to holdout. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
I think credit for this win goes directly to turbo, rail boss, and myself. The defense was sucking until I Took turbo’s advice and started watching on the link that rail boss provided. without that Saints lose!

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
Guess what guys?! If we beat the Failclowns next week we are veeery likely to face the Rams in the wild card round. You know what that means?? That’s right… Aaron Donald against Cesar motherf****** Ruiz!!!

All we need is a Rams punt returner to muff a punt and we're good :) |

Some Grown Azz Men out there today on Defense.
And I'm LOVIN Marquez Callaway. Next week should be fun. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
Ignoring the list of key players lost earlier in the season we were down RT1, LT1, C1, RB2 and some of y'all are acting like that's "our offense".
If those players come back, we're essentially at full strength on the O line for the first time in WEEKS. While I don't expect a 180, I would imagine Taysom gets more time to survey the field and maybe use his legs. |

How’s Michael Thomas doing with his recovery? I’m wondering if there’s a possibility he could come back if we make the playoffs. 🤔

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
The Saints have a defense that is good enough to win the Super Bowl, but their offense looks like a 1970s expansion team. Pretty much sums up the entire season and what I seen yesterday.
|
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
Yesterday's game reinforced everything we already knew.
- Our QB situation has been bad since Winston went down. The only way to be successful there is mix in designed runs to keep a defense thinking. - The O line is struggling when most of them are backups - Kamara is a superstar - This defense is stellar. Kwon and Demario are great together. Cam can still turn it on, and Davenport is a force when healthy. All the other guys on the D line do their job and bring it when necessary. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
I know we are missing damn near the entire starting O line, however, I like the way Marquez Callaway continues to make plays downfield.
Still believe he's a solid #3, but he has a high ceiling. Hope that we get a healthy MT, add a stud FA WR & then draft one in the subsequent draft & we're back in business offensively. |

This! People talking about how the offense needs retooled. What the offense needs are the players already on the roster to be in the active lineup and it's back to being a very competitive squad. Can the offensive roster be improved? Of course. But it is much, much better than what is being marched out on the field through much of this season. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
Panties fans did not make the trip. The lowest visiting crowd by far all season.
The same can be said for the home crowd. It was by far the greatest number of empty seats I've seen in the dome this season. That said, it was the loudest crowd of the season whenever it mattered. The ones that were missing were apparently those that sit on their hands anyway. Not as loud as past years, but honestly the loudest this year. The defense is for real. On any given day we can beat anyone with this defense and a bit of luck. Callaway can be a weapon, but those two blatant drops were out of character for him this season. Taysom gives us a better chance of winning games than any Saints QB not named Jameis and it isn't even close. It looks like his teammates agree. Ceedy Duce has become a huge crowd favorite. The reaction to his introduction was only equaled by Demario and Cam. The 550 mile round trip is much more enjoyable with a win. Go figure. :D :bng: |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
I think it was Parcells or Bill Walsh who said it best …
“When you pack a defense and special teams, you’ll always have a chance of winning”. Saints have both. Did anyone catch my guy Blake G on one of his punts? That football looked like it traveled damn near 60 yards in the air with a back spin at the end. He’s nasty. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
I just want that 30% chance of making the playoffs, just so I can keep on watching this defense. I couldn't really care less about the offense at this point. But this old man looks at this 2021 defense and remembers the Dome Patrol years, where field position and field goals could win the game, just from the defense alone. I want the playoffs, because I want to keep watching these defensive guys play one more time against somebody good. Period. Or once you get in, who knows. Favre could go down with a knee or something.

Got to say, I don't see it. AK has been largely disappointing this year. Likely due to a poor O line, but I think this year will be his worst since entering the league. At one point he had 12 carries for 0 yards, then rips a 30 yard run off. He was missing holes and running into blockers, the announcers made note of it twice. |

Up till then AK was over used for the most part. Unfortunately we have not seen a 100pct AK. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Panthers
This seemed like the best place to post this question. Apologies in advance for the somewhat trivial nature. Does anyone know if Brett Maher where’s number 19 in honor of Tom Dempsey?
I haven’t known many kickers (if any) other kickers to wear that number. I have been meaning to ask that question since he was signed, since I wear my Dempsey jersey regularly for games. |
