If I was hiring a lifeguard, first thing I would ask is can they swim, then second are they reliable. Antonio Brown ain't reliable, but we got guy who cant who swim jumping into the pool. A guy who can only be available 50% of games due to mental issues but can do the job when he is available is a good addition at our severe level of disfunction.

I don't see how an athlete taking their shirt off is the end of the world. In many sports, athletes compete without shirts. Like so what. He was unavailable due to a mental illness temper tantrum thing. Ok yeah. If a musician walks off the stage or cancels for one concert and is probably bipolar, can they never have another concert, or do we just maybe take that into account and check the refund policy?

Calvin Ridley is unavailable all year for mental issues. Aaron Rodgers tried to leave football to host a game show and lied about his vaccine status and is the favorite for MVP. Antonio Brown did not just commit some kind of felony, he had a mental breakdown in one game.

Even Antonio Brown's cautionary tale game this week, he got 26 yards before leaving, good to tie our #2 receiver for the week playing a full game. I had Antonio Brown in my fantasy football league championship and it turned out fine, because my opponent had Hollywood Brown, who scored less. Antonio Brown's 545 yards on the season are good for essentially tied for #2 among our wide receivers for the season, despite his missing so many games. Antonio Brown has 3 100-yard receiving games this season. As far as I can find, our wide receivers only have 1 this year. I am not sure if they have 3 in their combined careers.

We won a Super Bowl with Darren Sharper. What Sharper did is a lot worse than tossing a jersey and waving. I don't feel our receivers have played well enough or are talented enough for their jobs to be secure just because they are better at punching a clock than the alternative. Crazy things can happen in the playoffs and if we have one good receiver, the odds are a lot better for those things to happen.

Also Antonio Brown looked like he was in good shape when he took his shirt off. He puts in the time practicing. If this were a donut eating championship and Andrus Peat took his shirt off, you would look at his stomach and say that guy has been practicing, lets get him some counseling but lets keep him around, because he will win us some donut eating championships. Andrus Peat isn't crazy, but the Saints also aren't competing in donut eating championships, so Antonio Brown could probably be more valuable than Peat.
He quit on his teammates mid-game. Nuff said. He just ended his NFL career.

One could argue that many of our current receivers quit on their teammates before the game ever started, like in college when they decided they didn't need to work hard enough to be drafted, and throughout their professional careers when they decided they didn't want to work hard enough to make the roster of any team without severe salary cap and injury problems. If Antonio Brown were to quit on his teammates in the middle of every single game for us, at least we might have a lead for the defense to hold at halftime. I would not guarantee Brown a cent, except the veteran minimum that essentially does not count against the cap if we sign another veteran to replace him. But I think if we cut Kenny Still or Trequan Smith and replaced them with Antonio Brown, the only thing better would be if Stills or Smith signed within the division, and we could have Tuttle blanket them in man coverage.

Maybe we could even sign Brown to a non-player contract. He could just be a special assistant so that our defensive backs can practice against an NFL caliber receiving talent when he wakes up on the right side of the bed. If he takes off his shirt and leaves in the middle of practice, at least they got some reps against a good receiver.
