Re: Antonio Brown - Should we?

I’d still sign him. Vet minimum. 1 year. Incentives attached.

No team will call. Ever again.
I would be surprised if another NFL team would take the risk with him.

Re: Antonio Brown - Should we?

Controversies; Wiki

During and before the 2018 season, Brown was embroiled in numerous incidents in addition to causing tension within the Steelers organization. This included tossing furniture out of his 14th-floor apartment window in April, nearly hitting a 22-month-old child on the patio below,[267] and getting cited for speeding in excess of 100 mph along a suburban Pittsburgh highway.[268] Brown was later sued for the April incident,[269] and reached a settlement with the family of the child in April 2019.[270] In February 2019, a judge ruled him guilty of reckless driving in the speeding incident, and Brown received a fine.[271]

On September 10, 2019, Brown's former trainer, Britney Taylor, filed a lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted her on three occasions. She claimed that he exposed himself to her, ejaculated on her back, and raped her. Brown and his legal team denied the allegations.[272][273] On September 18, the Allegheny county district attorney's office announced Brown would not be prosecuted because Taylor's accusations were outside of the statute of limitations. The civil suit continued.[274] On September 16, a second woman accused him of sexual misconduct. Separately, Victor Prisk, a Pittsburgh-based doctor, who Brown worked with while with the Steelers, also sued Brown for $11,500 in unpaid fees.[275] A settlement between Brown and Taylor was agreed upon in April 2021.[276]

On January 13, 2020, following several domestic incidents in which police were called to Brown's home in Hollywood, Florida, the Hollywood Police Department stated they no longer want Brown to be associated with their youth league (PAL). The Hollywood police department returned a check from Brown and issued a trespass order preventing him from being involved with their youth league while saying in a statement, "We do not want him to continue to affect our youth, or influence them in a negative way."[277] Days later on January 21, it was reported that Brown and an accomplice had attacked a moving truck driver at the home. Glenn Holt, working as Brown's trainer was arrested, while a warrant for Brown's arrest was issued a day later with a felony charge of battery and burglary.[278] He turned himself in a night later on January 23.[279] Brown was officially charged with felony burglary of a vehicle, misdemeanor battery, and misdemeanor criminal mischief on March 20, 2020.[280] On June 12, 2020, Brown pleaded no contest to the felony battery and burglary charges and received two years of probation. He was also ordered to undergo 100 hours of community service, a 13-week anger management counseling program, and a psychological evaluation.[281]

One could argue that many of our current receivers quit on their teammates before the game ever started, like in college when they decided they didn't need to work hard enough to be drafted, and throughout their professional careers when they decided they didn't want to work hard enough to make the roster of any team without severe salary cap and injury problems. If Antonio Brown were to quit on his teammates in the middle of every single game for us, at least we might have a lead for the defense to hold at halftime. I would not guarantee Brown a cent, except the veteran minimum that essentially does not count against the cap if we sign another veteran to replace him. But I think if we cut Kenny Still or Trequan Smith and replaced them with Antonio Brown, the only thing better would be if Stills or Smith signed within the division, and we could have Tuttle blanket them in man coverage.

Maybe we could even sign Brown to a non-player contract. He could just be a special assistant so that our defensive backs can practice against an NFL caliber receiving talent when he wakes up on the right side of the bed. If he takes off his shirt and leaves in the middle of practice, at least they got some reps against a good receiver.

Re: Antonio Brown - Should we?

I've said it once, and stand by my assessment:
CTE is a real thing. He ain't been right in the head since that hit by Vontaze Burfict!

Those of you thinking this is ego, bad attitude, etc. really haven't been paying attention. He needs psych help.

Re: Antonio Brown - Should we?

I may be in the minority opinion, and I am certainly not advocating for it. However I would be very, very surprised if we have seen the last of Antonio Brown. Just look at how a few teams were scrambling for WRs this season; OBJ is an example and it is working with the Rams.

I predict some team somewhere sometime will give him a chance. He still can play and he’s not in current legal trouble. His agent will get him another shot. I hope it’s not with the Saints...after all, a healthy Michael Thomas paired with a healthy Antonio Brown who has a gripe with Tampa Bay would be a terrible thing. 😝

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

No doubt you are correct. Not many people think it’s “right in the head” to strip off your gear on field. Most also agree there are consequences from repeated impacts to the head.

When was that hit, do you recall? I know I could look it up, but you may know off the top of your head.
