Was the league source Peat’s agent or Hill’s agent? It is unbelievable how much future money we have been able to spend on loyalty to oft injured local legends. But I dont see how being the best at mortgaging the future is any better than being the best at lighting a crack pipe. We need a cap guy who is the best at balancing the budget to reduce dead money and allowing us to pursue depth at positions such as wide receiver.

The budget is balanced every year. That is mandatory. And it takes advantage of basic cost and management accounting principles of current and future values. That has helped lead the Saints to five straight winning seasons, including the second best record by far in the NFL over that five year stretch. And there's every reason to expect another year making a run for the playoffs in 2022.

Speaking of GM searches, this is cool!

I read about this yesterday before seeing this tweet just now.

Vehemently disagree. I don't care about skin color, gender, religious beliefs or anything else. Is the person the right fit?

That's what I thought, too, Fin. That's why I thought it was cool.

Perhaps you could elaborate more on the "cost and management accounting principles of current and future values" as it relates to an NFL roster and the salary cap then?

Its helped increase the capacity of the superdome by 5 by letting 5 regular guys like you and me start at wide receiver in the nfl. The fact is that when we lead the league in dollars over the cap every offseason and have to work miracles to balance the budget that involve a cycle of us leading the league again the next year, we put ourselves on the defensive in the offseason just trying to plug holes in the ship while our competitors are improving thenselves. We had a winning season but missed the playoffs. Cincy took our best pass rusher and made the playoffs. Buffalo took our best receiver and made the playoffs. I would hate if we lost our best personnel man because we had to keep the guys who are an expert in cutting lines at the payday loan window.
