Wouldn't hold my breath; hoping we can nab Chattanooga G Cole Strange to start that upgrade on the IOL...

If the Texans are really interested in Ruiz, I'd move him now for a draft pick and use that to get a true guard...

If we are already talking about moving on from a former first rounder after 2 seasons, the Saints scouts have failed on this selection.

I hope we go switch it up and go WR in the 1st. I've seen a ton of maulers, big uglies selected in the mid rounds and go on to become solid pros for years. IMO Peat & Ruiz were reaches as #1s.

I doubt they move on from him. We do need a Peat replacement and a Armstead replacement more than a Ruiz replacement.

Yeah. Strief said in an interview after the season that they were still very high on Ruiz who he described as very talented and works his butt off, but didn't improve enough in season two. We mustn't forget that Ruiz was changing positions and had no meaningful offseason at all his rookie year and played virtually every game his second year without either, or both, of the outstanding starters to his left and right due to all the time that McCoy and Ramczyk missed. Another plus is he isn't made of glass like Armstead and Peat with Ruiz being the only starter to play every snap of the season.

I'm curious to see what he does with Doug Marrone leading the group.

I could have sworn Peat missed some time this past season.

You are correct.

3 of 5 season-ending IR. Peat is as brittle as they come.

Soft as cotton & highly compensated to sit & watch. Some people here will defend & make excuses for this guy until the end of time though

So, according to the cliche being past around when talking about Armstead's value - "the best ability is availability" - Ruiz was the best O-lineman this past season?!

If Ruiz could make a leap, which is not impossible to see happen, it could go a long way in creating a really solid right side of the line.

I defended him being extended. My enthusiasm waned early. Now I'm in the group with pitchforks.

Best? I'd argue that availability is one of the more important qualities...

LT (2) 71 - Ryan Ramcyzk, 73 - Ethan Greenidge (RFA 2022) *Re-Signed

^^ You are certain on this JP?

For what it's worth, I heard on Underhill's podcast (last night) touch on this very subject. He seems to believe that Ramz will remain on the right side.

Guess we'll wait and see what Dougie M does inside those trenches.

When Ramczyk got his contract extension there was a lot of language and incentives added that were tied to him playing Left Tackle...

No, not at all. Know I've b*tched and moaned ad nauseum about how often Armstead, aka Mr. Glass, missed time.

Recently I posted that I'd rather have an offensive lineman that grades at 80-85 but plays all 16, 17 games a year and keeps the line continuity intact,

Versus an elite offensive lineman, dancing bear type who is a 90-95 grade but misses 5-7 games a year and the team record is mediocre...

Give me the guy that shows up to work every game...

Listen at Underhill's angle in that video clip I posted. Ultimately Dougie M & the O line brain trust will make the decision on where Ramz plays in 2022.

LMAO, No one is shooting any messengers, guys, actually feeling really good despite other schtuff going on right now...

Per my sources, friends of friends, was told that the plan was likely to move Ramz to LT when/if Armstead departed...

Really, really enjoy all this activity on our site, even if we have different takes...

Jameis returns, Terron leaves | NewOrleans.Football - YouTube

I agree with that thinking. First round tackle, second round WR. Hopefully trade back from 18 and get a late first and two seconds.

We can do better than James Hurst at LT though.

Kevin and Nick both make good points. We have work to do on the o line but we need to address some of it in Free Agency.

Saints definitely have the cap space.

Kwon has been giving the home-town discount and definitely deserves more coin, but having him in the rotation helps to make the defense elite...

Getting Quarterback settled is why the team is so far behind right now...

The whole roster just looks paper thin and in some position especially easily the bottom 5 in the league

While there's still a big question mark re: Marcus Maye's Achilles Tendon injury, we're essentially returning a Top 3 defense...

If we can get Kwon Alexander and P.J. Williams re-signed, this team is ready to roll on defense...

We can use the draft to get better on the offensive line and wide receiver position; maybe even nab a QB1 moving back in R1 or R2...

Kwon and Davis has been a teriffic pairing. With Werner up and coming I would really like to keep all three. We got a pretty good group at LB.

We ought to draft a QB next year, when it's supposedly a deep QB draft, one for the ages. Let's roll with who we have this year and draft WRs in a deep WR draft.
OT, G, WR, TE, S, CB ... not necessarily in that order.
