When the covid pandemic caught up to the Saints they weren't allowed to follow the usual salary cap increase accounting method we've followed lately. I believe that you're we lost a lot of valuable talent because we couldn't afford to keep them. Which is my point. We lose players that we can't afford to keep and quite often it's because of the never ending contract extensions.

Yes, the COVID cap hit everyone hard. But, we had the space to sign each of those players that left so it wasn't that we couldn't afford them, but that we decided we didn't want to keep them for that price. That's what I was trying to stress. It's like that $50,000 car that you can afford, but you know you don't need because the $35,000 one, although not as fancy, allows you to have that extra budget to use in some other way ... like a trip to Europe.
