Is Jeff Ireland leaving the Saints?

Loomis needs to move aside, retire, get the f*ck out of the way; he's just a yes-man capologist...

Ireland is a much more difficult commodity as a personnel man, an exceptional talent evaluator, true general manager...

True Dat jp. He isn't an accountant that is a little out of his league with personnel like Loomis. Our franchise turned a talent corner when Ireland came to town.

This is very true, but I see the upgrade being to Payton rather than Loomis. I don't remember Loomis ever claiming to be a personnel guy. While nobody in the league maximizes cap utilization as well as Loomis, Payton's been making the player calls since he came on board. However, Ireland has been the "birdie" in Sean's ear guiding him to the better personnel decisions since Jeff became involved.

Just remember Loomis was GM and oversaw the trade of two first round picks to move up and take Jonathan Sullivan - one of his many yes man ignorant moves...

Go back and look at what was left on the board; better still look at that draft haul...

It was at this time I really began to scrutinized his moves; what was really incredulous was a story that was printed in the TP the following year...

When Benson was asked about some of the things Loomis had done to impress him, he said he did a great job of organizing the tuxedo arrangements for his wedding to Gayle...

The story has been memory-holed from the TP/NOLA catalogue; of all the things to say about your NFL GM, that is what Benson recalled...

As GM, Loomis should be responsible for all good/bad fortune in the NFL draft; but, make no mistake 2017 was about Jeff Ireland and him reinvigorating the draft department...

Now like all NFL teams, there are a lot of coaches' sons, family, nepotistic hires and most go to the scouting department...

But if you got a savvy Scouting head with at least a couple of good scouts, you make a difference in the performance of this team...

I'd argue that Ireland has had more of a beneficial impact that Loomis...

Well Loomis hired Sean and signed Drew; perspective - Sean Payton only had the one offer and Miami didn't want Drew - Football Gods reversed the curse...

Having met Loomis on multiple occasions where my friends have connections, can tell you he couldn't sell lemonade in the desert...

And when you start talking past draft prospects and other moves, he moves into the same double speak that most politicians give off...

Keep Ireland at all costs...

That is spot on jp. However, the football gods didn't smile on us. I believe Katrina washed away the Voo Doo curse in New Orleans.:dunce:

On Irelands behalf he has put some of the best secondarys together dating back to his Miami days.

It was posted in another thread... he did not make the cut for second interviews. Good for us.
