Re: Payton to take a year off?
It was mentioned on Good Morning Football just now.
If he leaves, he leaves. No hard feelings by this fan other than grateful, thankful. Real life, real people. He has been here 16 years or so. His qb retired. Time. He maybe feels less challenged and he has reached his professional goals here. And as a hc. New wife. Maybe she wants to live somewhere else. His 3 kids , who lived in the Dallas area , must be starting college now maybe with one about to finish high school. GMF on NFL Net said he has a network offer out there. While we are at , sorry for sounding pessimistic to some of you, but lets be real….Mrs. B is not going to live forever. Rita acted crazy . I think Benson put it in his papers after Mrs.B, Rita will be out of punishment and owner of N.O.Saints Then again, maybe it has the Saints and other things being sold with proceeds living forever in the Benson foundation and running by the foundation. |

It wouldn't really mean that he wants to leave the Saints, it's just keep options open for the just in case scenarios that could unexpectedly come up.
Of course if SP does take the year off, that means he is not likely to return to the Saints. Yes, he is making 15 million per year and would leave 45 million on the table. We all know he has it good and can likely coach the team as long as he wants. Now speculating on reasons why SP would leave, well there are a ton of could be reasons. Burn out could be an issue, maybe he wants to spend a year with his family and return to a new challenge, maybe even issues with the Saints that we are unaware of, who knows... |

A hack article by a hack columnist that has now polluted the B&G... If you want these boards to be perceived as 'a step above' then we need to stop polluting it with content that is 'a step below'.
Just because it has "Saints" in print doesn't mean it is worthy of sharing or discussion. |

Duncan is the same guy who said Ram was gone for the rest of the season. I have a hard time believing anything he says.

Re: Payton to take a year off?
Rita has no legal claim to the team. Both the Saints and the Pelicans are owned 100% by Gayle Benson. Gayle has no heirs and has a legal document in place to sell the teams to a local owner upon her death. Rita gets nothing. As for Gayle's health, she's only 74 and in excellent health from recent reports. She can easily stay owner for another 15 years.
