I'm glad they hired Allen, the D has been growing into a formidable unit under him the last couple of years. I hope he gets another DC because I am no fan of head coaches being coordinators and calling plays, they have enough on their plates anyways.

Seems to me like some here forget that we ahev already seen a full season of Carmichael as the OC, back in 2012 when SP was suspended. The season as a whole was trash with the worst defence in leauge history but the O produced with Brees throwing for over 5 000yds. I think we wil be altright there.

Fans forget Bill Belichick was 37-45 in Cleveland.

How do you know for certain?

What if there's someone in mind already?

What if there's plans for a special QB coming in 2022 along with a new OC?

What if Carmichael stays on with more oversight?

We just don't know enough yet to dismiss any possibility as a bad move.

Good for Allen. He's earned it.

I, for one, am glad that it's likely he won't be scattered and can focus on coaching as opposed to making personnel decisions as well.

Next plan of action …

We need a QB.

Re: Saints hire Dennis Allen as Head Coach

Maybe we find a one year stop gap like Bridgewater or Mariota and draft one. We definitely need to draft one.

This is going to be unpopular but it might be favorable to move on from Kamara's contract. Solid rb talent available and gives us a more money to work with to rebuild that offense.

I had Bienemy on the top of my list, then Leftwich, and then Allen. Flores would really be at the top of my list if not for the lawsuit. It’s just too much of a distraction right now. I have a lot of concerns now, but we gone see how it all shakes out.

Bienemy's contract is up in KC. Maybe we were trying to sell him on the OC job as well. Rumor has it Carmichael will be promoted to assistant Head coach and not OC.

I’d be very surprised if Eric is even remotely interested in a lateral move.

And with no QB in place for New Orleans.

Perhaps that QB is in place but we don't know it yet publicly. Bieniemy may be interested in working with Jameis. Or at least maybe they were trying to sell him on the notion. And Mrs. B does have deep pockets. And New Orleans is his home.

No telling, but it would be a coup to get him in that capacity.

Maybe we still get him.

He may be hoping to take over for Reid in a year or 2.

He'll never get the recognition he deserves with Mahomes and Reid getting most of the credit. Making the Saints offense back into one of the league's elite would be a huge feather in his cap.

All speculation, but it would be interesting.

Even if you're offered $1 million or more? His contract expires Monday and is making reportedly $400 to $600,000 now.

That could be a good notch on his resume.

Re: Saints hire Dennis Allen as Head Coach

it would only be a lateral if he had the same resources. No QB, 1 WR (maybe), likely no RB, and an Oline that has a history of injuries is not lateral from KC. That said, it's also tough to evaluate an OC where the QB goes rogue every play. Not enough data to support Bienemy, not enough pull to warrant him moving.

I liked Carmichael's play calling through the years (when he actually did that). He can install the packages and prepare them well also- EVIDENTLY.

17 games now. So 9-8 or 8-9.

I believe the Saints will be better if for no other reasons than it's unlikely that there will be as devastating an injury season as last year.

Getting Lutz back is at least 2 more wins

Having your other four starting offensive linemen has to be worth a game or two, as well.

Good catch. 9-8 or 8-9 it is.

His press conference he certainly sounds the part.

"Our team is going to be tough, our team is going to be smart and we are going to be highly competitive. We are going to play with a passion and an energy, that our opponents are either unwilling or unable to match"

I hope he lives up to that quote.

If true then hard to argue against Winston at QB

We already needed speed at WR, but RB could be higher on the wishlist than we think.

This is the new NFL. It's a passing league.

Look no further than the participants in Sunday's Super Bowl. Both are ranked at the bottom half of the league with the rushing attack.

We'll be ok :bng:

Yeah but these defensive-minded head coaches always think the same way. They always want to be a ground and pound team.

Don't know if you remember when Payton served his suspension but PC called the O, really good year. I personally thought the 2011 season when PC was calling plays for the O was just as good if not better than the "greatest show on turf " Rams. Give PC a qb that can hit the deep ball (Winston) with a few good solid rb.'s (3 headed monster) a good TE and a couple good FA WR and I don't think there is a better OC out there that could match him. So if Allen would get rid of PC I do think it would be bad. PC is that good. But there always a lot of what if's.
