We need so much help on offense that I just don't see that happening. If anything, I believe DA will choose WR of OT. We've spent plenty of picks on defense recently while ignoring the offense and the offense is suffering from it.

How do we know that Dennis Allen will be the one "pulling the trigger"? While Payton was credited for making the final decisions on draft picks, that is the exception rather than the rule in the NFL, right? The GM usually makes the final decision with input from the scouting department and the coaching staff. We all know Loomis is not a personnel guy, however.

I'm thinking, and hoping, with Payton out of the picture the person in charge of College Player Personnel, Jeff Ireland, will be making the final decisions instead. I suspect Allen will be taking a slightly lesser role in that process than Payton held previously.

It's different from team to team. Anybody who pays a scintilla of attention to the draft knows this.

But you self-describe as someone who doesn't care about the draft, so, stop wasting everyone's time just so you can chime in.

Just come back in training camp when you'll have a plethora of tweets to steal from...

Great point about Ireland. The man who has drafted great secondary draft picks going back to his Miami days and here. Allen being a defensive guy and secondary coach at the roots paired with Irelands ( backfield guru) has led me to think their going after a S in the 1st and not having to pay Williams a kings ransom. Also a Kamara trade could go a long way getting us 2 good rb.'s in the draft, so it's like a 2 for 1 type of deal with cheap contracts to boot. In my eyes it's a win win.

If I recall correctly DA said that he wants to be heavily involved binging in new talent in both the draft and free agency.

Yes, he did. I remember him saying that in an interview. That is to be expected, of course. He better be heavily involved. All HC's should be. But, that doesn't mean he'll be making the final decisions like Payton has done for the past decade and a half. At least I hope not. That really needs to be Ireland's job.

Jameson Williams in the 1st ?

I still think the injury will push him down to Day 2.

Then again, a team (Chiefs, Bills, Rams) with weapons already in place could make a move.

I might be alone here, but I like what I've seen from Carson Strong.

If we are talking about second round prospects, I like Strong or S Lewis Cine from Georgia.

The WR crop is so deep, I've seen mocks and simulators with Metchie and Tolbert available in the third round.

Either would be a solid addiction to our corps.
