TreQuan is Back!

Re: TreQuan is Back!
He's played 36 games in 3 seasons.
Maybe he's due. Maybe he's just a really good blocker who makes 2-3 catches per game. |

Very disappointing. I know there is still a lot of time, and a deep draft coming up...

Re: TreQuan is Back!
Wasted roster spot. You UPGRADE in the off season at a position of need.
4 seasons later he does nothing to move the needle. Coach Dennis Allen is gonna have to learn the hard way. Insanity … |

We'll need Christian Watson AND another speedy WR. Signing TreQuan makes me think we'll only draft one WR now, hopefully the Randy Moss-esque Watson. |

Re: TreQuan is Back!
Blocking is something this team values, and separation makes it harder to block.

Is the twitter handle @cantshedtrequan taken?
|
Re: TreQuan is Back!
I think Trequan is more of tight end than receiver. He's the reverse Jimmy G who was more receiver than TE. He isn't costing that much, so I don't see what the big deal is bringing him home.

But that what he does. He’ll have a good streak of games, then play terrible or disappears. |

Re: TreQuan is Back!
I’m not excited about it by any means. But they do have 90 players in camp. Like mentioned earlier by Gnome He’s a guy who knows the system. Could be nothing more than a training camp guy to give the QBs a qualified route runner until the season starts; Could end up stepping his game up and being a solid #4 behind Thomas, Callaway, and someone yet on the roster.

Re: TreQuan is Back!
I know some people are not happy with this re-signing, but it's not a huge contract, so at least they didn't break the bank on him.

I think people are really missing this (production/lack thereof) for whatever reason. |
Re: TreQuan is Back!
(Can’t believe I’m defending Smith!). Keep in mind a few things;
He had Brees throwing to him in his weak arm phase Had camps and preseasons impacted by COVID, hurricanes, QB battles Had Winston for 6 1/2 games and then a revolving door at QB Had no strong WR or TE presence to help him a good chunk of the time All excuses?…maybe so. But they all had an impact on his development. I’ll admit I’m down on him and this signing is not what I was hoping for. But it’s a long way until final cuts and if he’s our 5th receiver on the team then we could do worse. |

Re: TreQuan is Back!
I'm fine with this. It's 2 million guaranteed and he knows the system. If he's our 4 or 5 receiver, it's fine. His supposed skill set works with Jameis arm strength. If we wanted to sign a bigger name, this deal won't prevent us from doing so.

Re: TreQuan is Back!
Here are some interesting stats I found quickly:
Smith was 85th amongst all NFL wide receivers last year in both yards and catches at 32 for 377 yards. With 31 other NFL teams considered that means there were fewer than 3 WRs per team that had better stats than him. In other words, on average, his numbers would have been slightly better than the#3 guy on other team’s rosters. So, with CGM back (🤞) and Callaway living up to (and hopefully bettering) his performance from last year and whoever they draft (again🤞), then by numbers Trequan should be a solid 4th receiver. Just food for thought. I guess I’m trying to convince myself it’s not a bad signing after all. |
Re: TreQuan is Back!
The problem with 3Quan is his route running. He doesn't run crisp routes. Instead of sticking his foot in the ground and making sharp cuts he round the routes off which throws off timing and allows DB's to jump routes. He's pretty good in the red zone though. I just would rather try and develop other talents. I much rather continue to watch Lil'Jordan Humphrey grow as a WR.

Has he played a full injury free season yet?
Didn't think so. Let's see if this actually happens this year. Maybe his numbers improve then. |
Re: TreQuan is Back!
Should have let him walk
Dude was a baller in college, anything but as a pro 3 years was more than deserved |
