NBA and MLB contracts are fully guaranteed so I don't see why the NFL won't follow suit. The writing was on the wall.

Injuries and salary cap make it very difficult for NFL teams to fully guarantee contracts. If DW happens to have a career ending injury, the Browns are seriously screwed for the next several years, based on current salary cap rules.

Yes, That is what makes the system work. Stay healthy and reset the market for fully guaranteed contracts. Get hurt and see how well that flies.

The market won't bear it across the board. There will be an ultra elite tier of player that will qualify. With the hard salary cap and low rookie wages, everyone else will get their rookie contract and then get released into free agency.

Watson was a special case where he was early into his second contract and the team wanted him gone. Hasn't happened to an elite QB recently and probably won't happen again any time soon. He's a purple unicorn. Don't think that all the regular horses are going to get the same treatment.

They just can't make fully guaranteed salaries common place with a hard cap. The NBA has a soft cap with luxury tax implications. MLB has no cap whatsoever, but also has a luxury tax. Both the NBA and MLB are less concerned with parity, a driving force for the NFL. The hard salary cap is the greatest tool to keep that parity intact. I could possibly see a single player exemption where one player's salary would not be counted toward the cap. One player wouldn't have too terribly much impact on league parity I would think.

Here's the real issue - In the NFL, once money is guaranteed those funds have to go into escrow until the prescribed disbursement of said funds...

So teams have to already have the cash on hand when they guarantee a contract; this where the big market vs small market teams could really come to a head...

Now the New Orleans Saints are in a unique position afforded them by some generous corporate welfare from the State Legislature to back those guarantees, with cash...

Yes, the same state government who's struggling and needs more money backs Loomis & Co when they convert those contracts for cap compliance...

Big markets - NY, LA, CHI, ATL, DAL shouldn't have cash flow issues with huge lucrative local marketing deals, but small market teams, sans the Saints Deal, have a problem...

We will see. Personally I think he’s going to take the money and run. I have my doubts as to weather or not he even cares about football anymore.
