This may not mean much to some but I found this interesting. Pretty close numbers. If this guy is coachable, which I bet he is, there’s no reason why he won’t see the field early and often. I don’t really know why he was graded by most as a 3/4 rounder.

Let me add a phrase I heard/read countless times throughout the draft - "long arms". Seems to carry more weight than anything this year LOL!
Anyway, Alonte has 'em so.... CHAMPIONSHIP!

He'd been a greater steal in the third round as well; we could have traded back, still gotten him and say a Guard, Tight End or LBer...

Can you guarantee that? We could have traded back and HOPED we got him. How does that help when they wanted him from the get go?

Winners don't hope things fall to them.

They reach out and grab them.

I’m the same size as all them boys. 40 time though? Right now? 4.8 probably. 😂

Pick 49? You'd had suitors...

No, they didn't try and had no reason to try since they don't agree with that type of move. Loomis himself said the Saints philosophy is "quality over quantity" when asked about trading down. He mentioned their trading up some 25 times and not once trading down. He also said when they find someone they love they go and get that player.

It's hard to logically argue against that philosophy when Loomis' teams are right near the top of the list in total wins during his tenure.
