3 remaining free agents the Saints should sign

With the Saints just under $10 million in cap space at the moment, I decided to give some insight on a few free agents that I believe could be the finishing touches on their quest for a Super Bowl run. 3 remaining free agents the Saints should sign © Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images 3 remaining free agents the Saints should sign Without further ado, here are the three players... Akiem Hicks, DT 3 remaining free agents the Saints should sign © Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images 3 remaining free agents the Saints should sign Akiem Hicks is a player that I have been itching for the Saints to sign for awhile now. The former Saint has been one of the most disruptive interior defensive linemen in the league over the course of his career. The 6’5, 324-pound mauler of a man, would provide the Saints with a dominating force to reckon with in both the run game and against the pass. It was reported after the draft that Dennis Allen and the defensive staff were high on Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis and contemplated selecting him over Chris Olave in the first round. This does not necessarily mean they felt it was a must position to address but clearly they felt comfortable adding in that area. Fast forward to now, the defensive tackle position is one of the only spots with a question mark outside of David Onyemata. The 32-year old Hicks is not the same player he was a few years ago but he would surely add some disruption to a loaded defensive unit. Darrell Williams all day.
Versatile back who catches well and can pass block. Could we pull a hat trick and sign another former LSU Tiger 😃 ? |

No way in hell Hicks comes back. He’s said so a few times. Hicks laughed at Cam when Cam hit him up on twitter then told him to get the hell out of here and come to the Bears.
I can’t remember what his perceived beef with Payton and the organization was. What was the deal with that? |

We need to sign a versatile RB to cover for the coming suspension for Alvin's Las Vegas Meltdown...
Plus, not sold Ingram has anything left in the tank, Baltimore just doesn't let RBs walk... Really would have preferred had we used one of those late picks on a RB where there still was great value... |

Akiem Hicks finally burying the hatchet with the Saints Does Akiem Hicks still feel some animosity towards the team that drafted him? The Chicago Bears defensive lineman has kept a hefty chip on his shoulder over the years after being discarded in a trade with the Patriots, but he hasn’t kept the resentment going towards the New Orleans Saints after five years in Chicago. “Do I appreciate how I was cast aside?” Hicks told Nathan Smith for ChicagoBears.com. “I wasn’t good enough to play for that team? No, I don’t appreciate those things. You never forget, but you can’t carry hate in your heart, you know what I’m saying? I would also say that, man, you just appreciate those moments. I wouldn’t say it loses its luster.” A recent trip down memory lane — a highlight reel of Marques Colston’s biggest plays during his and Hicks’ time together in New Orleans — turned the big man sentimental, and he found himself catching up with an old friend in Saints captain Cameron Jordan. |
