Re: Saints' Tyrann Mathieu glowing over rookies Smoke Monday, Alontae Taylor
From the article:
"Taylor is Tennessee's first defensive back selected in the draft since Rashaan Gaulden went in the third round (85th overall) to the Carolina Panthers in 2018, and Taylor, a 31-game starting cornerback for the Vols over the past four seasons, will likely start in New Orleans." I'm not to sure about that. Especially right away. He has Lattimore and Adebo clearly in front of him at CB. Unless Ceedy moves from nickel I don't see where Taylor would start. |

If Taylor can start anywhere in the secondary this season it means he was a fantastic pick. That means he has to unseat one of Lattimore, Adebo, Ceedy Duce, Honey Badger, or Maye. That is a good thing.

Who's spot do you think he could challenge for? Is he experienced at free safety and is he fast enough to cover ground on the back end?

I don't want Taylor to start at all this season. That would mean that any of these good to great members of the Saints secondary is either hurt or not as good as we thought. (or missing some games due to DWI...)

Until players are in it at full NFL speed, engaging physically, playing F*ck-F*ck Mind Games, letting reads flow naturally, you just don't know what you have...
Back in 1989, Tony Mandarich was an uber, physical phenom with little to no body fat for an OT but lacked the mental insight and adaptiveness needed to play the NFL game... Just let the best five (5) DBs earn it and take the field; and don't be surprised nor hate the critics who ask aloud if the Marcus Maye signing wasn't maybe premature... |

I liked TM talking up the rookies. That is leadership.
