Taysom had a very delicate surgery earlier this year and the rehab will be slow.

Do you have info on his return status that many of us aren't aware of?

Just what Jeff Duncan reported back in January via CBS Sports.

"Hill is expected to need six -to-nine months of recovery following surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com reports."

That could put his return anywhere from sometime next month to near the beginning of the regular season.

I think Vannett will be gone and we will see a trio of Trautman, Johnson, and Krull. Once Hill comes back, one of those guys will probably have to hit the bricks. I'm hoping Krull gets coached up on blocking and becomes a diamond in the rough.

I am looking forward to a healthy Hill on the field. However, I don’t see him ever evening a true TE that can play off the line as a blocker and be a receiving threat. He’s only 6’ 2”. He doesn’t have the height or bulk of a Trautman, Krull, or Kelce.

I think he'll be a "TE" in name only. Fully expect him to be utilized all over the formation.

I just hope Pete uses him right. PC has a lot of speed already at WR with assuming MT is good. Adding Hill (who has speed) with the WR corp I could see him lining up as a TE. I'm not sold on the O line ,yet. Rookie LT, Ruiz as G. Running back is still a question, Kamara,( everyone knows there) but I will say he's no 3 down back. Rookie rb who I got my fingers crossed on him( just the right size in my opinion) but no real depth to speak of after that. So unless the O line gets it right rb,qb ,wr, TE want matter, the D will have to bail them out for however long.

Agreed. That’s why I feel more “traditional” TE help us needed than Hill provides. Not that it’s readily available

Is Josh Hill still a Lion? Wiki only said signed by Lions and went on IR last year. Helluva blocker and underrated as a receiver (IMHO)

He retired from football about a year ago.

TE Josh Hill retires from football less than 2 months after signing with Detroit Lions

ESPN Staff Writer

May 6, 2021

METAIRIE, La. -- Tight end Josh Hill officially announced his retirement Thursday, less than two months after joining the Detroit Lions as a free agent.

The Lions signed veteran tight end Darren Fells as a replacement.

Hill, who turns 31 later this month, spent his first eight years with the New Orleans Saints before being released in a wave of salary-cap cuts. He initially planned to follow his former position coach, Dan Campbell, to Detroit before the apparent change of heart.

Hill's one-year deal with the Lions was scheduled to pay him $1.2 million.

"This game has blessed my family and I with more than we could have ever imagined," Hill wrote in an Instagram post. "Everything this game has given and taught me makes this decision extremely difficult, but I am looking forward to all of the years I have with my young family, and being able to chase after different dreams."

I think that Trautman is the same player as Josh Hill.
