He had warm weather and a roster that could contend, so I by did he quit?

Especially if it means giving up major draft capital. As for the Cowpatties, Jerry will never relinquish enough of the control to any coach to satisfy Payton's requirements, I believe.

That would be two alpha males in the same room butting heads. I don't think that after working with the Benson's that Payton will agree to Skeletor's pressure.

I’m starting to dislike Payton.

If Allen screws the pooch, he can come back here. Year off might be worth it.

Well for what it's worth when Cam Jordan heard Sean was leaving his first comment was "Sean's leaving for a big market" or words to that effect. Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles are all pretty big.
Sean got us to the glory land and almost never in his tenure did we go into a game week without a realistic expectation of victory. No other HC in our history did the same. I can't be mad at him, but that's me.

Rez, I understand feeling that way... but, I'm happy with the job he did, so I don't see where I can do anything but thank him for his time and wish him well.

If he wants a new challenge, go get it. Best of luck when you are not playing us.

I’ll always be thankful Stick. I just feel he didn’t do a great job of preparing the team for the transition. Especially in the QB position. He waffled about Winston, he wasted time with the Hill experiment. He spent a pick on Book and then left. Maybe DA doesn’t like Book, but now he’s got him on the roster.

Just some thought.

I agree that he didn't do a good job of preparing for Drew's retirement, especially since he is supposed to be a QB guru. But, replacing Brees was never going to be easy.

Hoping DA learned some lessons on how to be a coach during his time as the Raiders head guy.

Or, once again, this could all be the annual BS clickbait.
