Bellamy gone for season, Bullocks to start
Bellamy tore his rotator cuff and is gone for the season. D. Smith with shift to the SS postition and take his place and Bullocks will take over for Smith at FS.
How does this experiment work? Would Mel Mitchell going into SS spot be a better option? Discuss. |

RE: Bellamy gone for season, Bullocks to start
Probably a good move. Bullocks has lots of speed and a history of being around the ball. Smith should be ok in run support, providing our LB's can shed blocks.
My question is with no Bellamy, who calls the defensive plays? This is a HUGE loss. Also, since Bellamy is ab's best friend on the team--is this good or bad for ab? |

I think this is a big opportunity for D. Smith to prove why we spent all that money on him. He needs to stop with all the taunting nonsense and lead this defense to an inspired performance. We desperately need F. Brown back this week.

First off...that taunting penalty was complete nonsense. He just barked at the guy while he was walking off. I've seen that penalty mentioned 10 times and I'm tired of it. If you're gonna get on Smith, get on him for the busted coverage on the big pass play on Sunday.
As far as Bellamy being gone....I really don't care. Who calls the plays on this defense? As if it has run like some well oiled machine.... I think Jay is one of Haz's favorites and gets a pass. He takes awful angles...especially for a guy expected to stop the run. Look at the angle he took on the Steve Smith TD where Mike tried for the strip....it was Tebuckyesque. And he came flying into the picture on a couple of Mwelde runs only to whiff on the tackle. Not only does he not make the tackle, he doesn't even slow the guys up for help to come. I think Bellamy is a good pro...he does make some plays, but he overpursues and misses big tackles. He comes flying in...one of the Saints biggest problems under Haz. You gotta wrap the guy and drive him back....the word form tackle never came into Venturi's venacular. Bellamy racks up the tackle numbers because we haven't had any LBs the entire time he's been here. Bring on the new blood. I think Mitchell is probably decent, but he has been in Haz's doghouse since they went at it on the sidlelines at Carolina last year. And we all questioned the Safety pick last year...hell, it looks like foresight now. |

I'm actually excited to see what Bullocks can do. I totally agree with you yasoon, Bellamy was slow and a poor tackler. Always went for the big hit instead of wrapping up. Every once in a while, you might say "damn nice hit," but for every one of those there were five "damn, Bellamy just missed another tackle." Put that young, athletic, fast, strong kid in there and see what he can do. It can't be any worse right?

Maybe this is good news for the Saints D. I mean they will miss bellamy but i mean he hasnt really help provide turnovers 4 our defence. With Bullocks in there he is a ballhoh he makes some plays. Mel Mitchell i dont no if he will start few years ago he was suppose to start at SS but go injured maybe its his time to shine. Mitchell or Bullocks maybe see some switching.
