He should have gotten a ring or two in that span of years. He missed 2009 by two years.

Agreed.

LC Greenwood’s family is still awaiting the call and he has multiple SB rings.

Cam will need to pick up the pace before he hangs em up.

They were discussing SB rings and the relevance to the HOF last week on NFL Radio. Two of those in the discussion (Vic Carruci and Alex Marvez) were HOF voters and they said being on a SB winning team isn't as important as some may think. It's not something stressed when going over qualifications. Sure, many, if not most, HOF members have been associated with a championship team, but much of that comes from longevity and not personal achievement. They said if it came down to two players with almost identical qualifications with one having played on a SB winning team then it may then be considered. Just look at Jim Kelly and Dan Marino as two examples they gave.

Yes but that's only a portion of it. No one gets in on their own merit, you have to first have your own merit and secondly you have to stand out amongst that years candidates. Its the contrast that kills most people and most of the voters are not Saints fans which means Cam gets less viewership from the voters.

To my point, would Cutler have been talked about as much as a Saint? No, but he was a Bear so he had greater exposure. Mother f***ers play favorites whether we want to believe that or not.

Fortunately the process doesn't take place in a vacuum. It's the job of the member representing the nominee to sell that nominee. It's my understanding that these presentations can be very in-depth, especially for those NOT already well known by the other members. When Cam's time comes up it will probably be Jeff Duncan's, or the Saints voting member at the time's, job to give every reason why Jordan belongs.

At least 32 of the 49 members are beat writers and not "fans" of any team. I've known many sports writers and broadcasters in my day and they are almost to a man, or woman, frustratingly neutral when it comes to the team they cover. Any allegiance usually belongs to the team they pulled for growing up.

But, yes, they can and do play favorites I would suppose. I have heard that players that have a bad reputation for with the press have a tougher hill to climb than those who the press like in general. Cam's seems to have been campaigning quite a bit in that realm recently.

Re: Cam Jordan Hall of Fame?

my .02- Definitely not first ballot, Has to contend with the big market bias, (yes it exist) and that wow factor or glaring stat that most have. Winning Super Bowls is a big deal, but it's not all that. Just means the player was part of a well rounded team, which offers up the old question...was the player that great? or was the player just a cog in a well oiled machine. AKA LC Greenwood, Trent Dilfer. Something like a top five in sacks, Pro Bowl/All-Pro, maybe Deep playoff run where he puts the team on his shoulders via key plays, sacks, TFL in the next couple of seasons would probably cement his eventual ticket. Just may take awhile, while adding a little jam to his toast.

LC was that good in those trenches. His numbers are what they are. A GREAT player.

If stats (sacks, tfl, hurries) were recorded when he entered the league, there is no telling where his totals may have ended. His post-season stats are among the best that's ever lined up at DE.

But as Rez eluded to earlier in a previous post, Cam is going to have to pick up the pace quite a bit, otherwise, he'll have to wait (see Klecko, Jim Marshall & Gastineau) a long time before he gets the call.
