Manti Te'o documentary

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Including this thread in the main since he's a former Saint. If you haven't heard about it yet this new documentary is a must-watch. Pretty well done, except for some parts that felt rushed and a few aspects I didn't ...

Manti Te'o documentary

Including this thread in the main since he's a former Saint. If you haven't heard about it yet this new documentary is a must-watch. Pretty well done, except for some parts that felt rushed and a few aspects I didn't like (don't want to spoil it). I'm glad this documentary came out to hopefully get rid of the false narrative that Manti "made the girl up" - which the documentary totally debunks.

Definitely a lot to unpack here, curious what you guys think of it after watching, let me know.

PS - documentary is on Netflix, pretty new and popular and easy to find.

Same here. It was sickening the way the public and media brutally attacked Te'o over this subject. Rehashing that brutality just doesn't sound entertaining to me.

Yeah it's not a happy topic. Gotta be in the mood for it. I was very interested because I didn't pay all that close attention back in 2013. In the second episode they at least spend some time on how vicious the media was.

Until watching it, I had forgotten just how good Teo was in college.

Yeah. I remember it quite well. I got into it with a few people in the forums that were ruthless toward him as it was hitting the fan. Imagine that? LOL!

Good to hear, you were on the right side of the issue. I had no idea the lengths Tuiasosopo went to to deceive Te'o - even pulling his parents into the hoax while there was another death in their family. And apparently Te'o was never asked for money (the #1 red flag) and the voice acting was next level. You can't go very far in blaming Te'o for falling for it. I've got a lot of empathy for what he went through. Hope Te'o is doing great post-career.
