Re: Who Makes The Cut?

You can't have Sorensen making the team ahead of safety from the Bucks.

Re: Who Makes The Cut?

Not bad...

I think TE Krull makes the team. TQ is a goner. Not sold on RB Washington. I agree on the former Buc safety. Maybe we keep one more OL.

Any word on Michael Thomas? Is he still on the team? Lol.

Trequan brings nothing to the team. He has to go in my opinion.

Abram Smith might not make it.

Kaden Ellis is one of the worst linebackers I've ever seen on a professional team. No way he should make this team. I'm watching the game from last night now, I've seen him miss at least five tackles in the first half.

I mostly agree. I would take Ellis, Street, and Sorenson off and replace them with Justin Evans, Bostic, and someone not currently on the team.

Is Gardner considered a safety?

He is nursing a hamstring injury.

Did our 6th round pick from Air Force even play in the preseason? Don't remember hearing his name at all.

He’s a strong safety. Just playing mostly in the slot.

Justin Evans could really start on this team. No way I’d let him walk.

ok embedded tweets don't seem to work for me. Trevor Penning with ligament damage will require surgery.

And friendly fire on top of it all... enough of a reason to cut Juwan.

He is expecting a child with his fiance Lennay Kekua and will return to the team immediately after delivering the baby.

Watching it live I was for sure a flag was coming on Johnson. Looked like he was blocking a guy low while Penning was already engaged.

I only saw a quick clip. Didn’t he launch pretty much straight at Trevor’s hip?

Live you see Penning blocking and a Saints player flying in low. I didn’t think anything was wrong with Trevor because he seemed to be celebrating the TD.

SAFETY (6): Tyrann Mathieu, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Marcus Maye, J.T. Gray, P.J. Williams, Daniel Sorensen

I'd omit Sorensen and add Justin Evans. Justin has played extremely well @ camp & subsequent pre-season games.

Daniel has been meh all of camp.

Update :

Rookie RB Abram Smith has been waived.

Source - Underhill

Re: Who Makes The Cut?

https://www.si.com/nfl/saints/news/s...roster-tracker

Keep track of all the Saints personnel moves right here at the Saints News Network Roster Tracker.

Released/Waived
1. DT - Josh Black (per Nick Underhill)

2. T/G - Khalique Washington (per agent Brett Tessler)

3. RB - Abram Smith (per Aaron Wilson)

The only big surprise in the first few moves was Smith, the undrafted rookie from Baylor. He was in a close competition with Tony Jones Jr. and Dwayne Washington for the third running back spot.

In three preseason games, Smith had 24 carries for 78 yards and five receptions for 33 yards. If he clears waivers, there's a strong chance he ends up back on the Saints practice squad.

NFL teams will also begin filling out their 16-player practice squad after players clear waivers following the August 30 cut-down.

Once Kirk Merritt moved over to RB, the writing was on the wall for Smith. I was rooting for him, but he didn't show much in preseason.

Yeah same here. I was hoping he could be another diamond in the ruff for us at RB but he hasn't shown that yet.

I hope by waiving Kevin White (injury settlement), that opens up a spot for Justin Evans.

How long is Hurst out for? I thought he was supposed to be back by the start of the season.

Initially, I'd say Hurst is starting LT however he's not completely healthy (according to DA). TBH there is no quality depth behind Hurst.

The second option - swing Peat out to LT (which I would hate).

3rd option - make the call to Eric Fisher. He's already stated he's in great shape and expressed interest in playing for a contender.

4th option - keep an eye on the waiver (final cuts around the league) wire tomorrow.

Dallas is in the same boat as us (LT - Tyron Smith) tore his hamstring & out indefinitely).

Coach Dougie Marrone has some tough decisions on his plate to ponder as we inch closer to week 1.
