He was really good at developing Drew....drafting a QB not so much. He always looked for rookie QB's to develop in his mold as a player, which wasn't that good. He may not have been the best QB but he is one of the most creative play callers in NFL history.

Ian Book was actually a fairly decent prospect. The problem I see with him is he plays scared and it's difficult to develop a guy once that happens.

To be a bit fair the only time he got a chance with the Saints was with a COVID depleted roster consisting of the following starting lineup:

PlayerPos
Ian BookQB
Alvin KamaraRB
Adam PrenticeFB
Easop WinstonWR
Lil'Jordan HumphreyWR
Nick VannettTE
Caleb BenenochT
James HurstT
Calvin ThrockmortonG
Cesar RuizG
Erik McCoyC

I was there. He never had a chance.

I agree with you about that particular game being a very difficult way to start a career. The problem is his skittish tendencies carried over to the following year, he had mostly dump off type of passes most of the Saints 2022 preseason and was mostly ineffective. I didn't watch the Eagles preseason games, but what I read is he was very indecisive and really looked bad. Guys who are backups need to make the most of their opportunity when they get it and unfortunately Book hasn't done that so far.

Covid, no oline, played with “backups” etc

Ian Book simply isn’t good enough at this level.

Eagle rookie (6th rd) QB Tanner McKee looked solid in pre season & with 3’s.

Bad scouting by the Saints. It happens 🤷🏼.

Eagle 3s could be better than Saints 3s?
