Re: Week 2 - Bucs @ Saints
OLINE has to play better, specifically RUIZ.
He cannot continue to allow free releases through the A gap, while trying to help Ramz or simply standing around is becoming monotonous. 3 years in, if he's not improving he needs to have a seat. Tired of the excuses for his poor play. He will eventually get our QB hurt or seriously injured. Todd Bowles is bringing the heat on 3rd downs. |

As a first round pick, if you play that badly and even Jahri Evans cant raise your level, then I just don't think he's suited for a starting role. Ruiz ended Brees's career, I hope he doesn't get Winston injured. |

Same question, Diz. If no one behind Ruiz is any better then what do you do?

I'd hate to see Winston suffer bad guard play like Brees did. It's hurt us for years in the playoffs and just seems to get ignored. |

Yup. You gotta go with what you have and hope it gets better. You can utilize the FB more. You can move the pocket. Stay in the hurry up which looked good. There are options.

Re: Week 2 - Bucs @ Saints
If this is true and our guards are the best we can have this year, then plays have to be designed to take that into account. No more plays like the Ingram 2 point conversion. More help from the RB and TEs in pass protection. More plays that can get outside the tackle box. More plays that are quicker throws but with some loft that will allow the WRs to work downfield like Landry's catch. If they are bringing blitzes then some WR or TE has to be on single coverage. Winston did a great job not forcing his throws and picking his spots.

"Ruiz was a reach in the 1st round". He wasn't wrong either. I see no signs of him ever living up to that draft status. He was a human turnstile vs Atlanta. I've never treated PFF grades as gospel, but in his case (46.5) that was accurate. Better get it together. Todd Bowles is bringing the kitchen sink on 3rd down. |
