Week Six: Bungles vs. Saints

Hopefully we'll come into this one a bit healthier.

I worry we are going to lose because our strategy for the game has been leaked. Apparently Dennis Allen's plan is play man coverage on JaMarr Chase on defense, rotating the specific assignment among all our corners, safeties, and linebackers, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd downs respectively, while controlling the clock on offense with Mark Ingram up the middle and asking Troutman and Harty to make contested catches when we need the yardage on 3rd and long.

As a fan, it may be healthier to expect to lose, then be refreshed and pleased when they do win. At least that's what Foreverfan used to say. Was he right?

That's been my line of thinking Pre-Payton and Post-Payton. Like Papz, I'm not ready to give up on Dennis Allen. I don't currently believe that he is Head Coach material but I may change my mind if I see changes in his coaching style and adaptation to situations throughout his tenure. He's not going to yell at his players to "get some nuts" like Sean did but maybe what he's doing with the team behind the scenes will work.

The Saints better hope Maye can return this WEEK.

Landry, MT, Lattimore, Olave etc. Lots of key guys are injured.

The Bengals are struggling but have serious weapons at WR & a young QB with playmaking ability.

This will be a tough game for Lattimore to miss IF, in fact, he is more injured than what's being reported from the media.

Yup. Agreed. Waiting for practice reports to start coming out.

Pass rush this week is key. Obviously.

Davenport has a ton of pressures. This could be his first multi sack game.

If we're getting home with four, the receivers shouldn't be able to dominate.

Cincy has given up the 4th most sacks in the league thus far. Hoping they move up to #1 after this week.

Looked like their Injury list was fairly light going into last week’s game. Unless a few players got dinged up, they should be pretty healthy heading into the game. Not a great sign.

Higgins and Chase can both kill you deep. Make sure to mix Cover 4 into the gameplan.

Higgins' injury could come into play here. And Jonah Williams is their starting left tackle.

Where has Tanoh gone this season? I rarely hear his name anymore. Through 4 games, the Saints rank 4th worst in pressure, not to mention we rarely blitz.

Something is definitely off with the pass rush so far in 2022.

The Bengaloo's O line is pretty bad ATM. We shall see.

Due to my wife's work schedule and demands at home I won't be able to get out to the bar to watch the game. I can't wait until next year when streaming will finally be available and we can all tell DirecTV to go eat a bag of dicks.

This one won't be easy. The Bengals Super Bowl hangover is over and they're starting to round back into shape.

Payton Turner is actually Davenport in disguise. This dude is always on the report 😐. And so much for being “deep” at WR. MT, Landry & Olave will be limited.

Jameis can stay where he’s at. He’s not that guy.

This offense is better suited for AD.

This should be an upgrade according to local popular opinion. That said, I hope he only gets one chance all game on kickoffs.

Very well may have been. It happens fairly regularly if the QB is under center.

Based on Underhill's podcast with Kevin, it's not sounding all that positive for Lattimore.

Our secondary will need to perform a whole lot better against Burrow & co.

Chase, Boyd & Hurst can hurt you in space.

Also a worry is Cincy’s run D has been decent. MUCH better than Seattle’s has/had been. Can’t count on Hill’s Superman antics against them.

Don't look now but Vonn ranks #2 in the NFL with interceptions @ 3. Side note - Marcus Williams also has 3 ATM.

I thought Vonn was limited as a Saint but good for him that he's getting picks now.

Marcus will be stuck on that number for a while after dislocating his wrist this past weekend. Haven't heard anymore, but even if he's able to return late in the season it could affect his abilities.

Perhaps surprisingly to some, Cincy is tied for 3rd from last in sacks so far. Hendrickson does lead the team with 2.5 with one player (BJ Hill 1.5) having more than one.

Bell does have three of the team's five picks.

Re: Week Six: Bungles vs. Saints

This speaks to something Boston pointed out recently. Consistency in playing together as a unit is key to the success of an offensive line.

From the article linked above:

Is the Saints’ O-Line finally ascending?

I think it is starting to trend in the right direction. Individual poor performances have overshadowed their play. Ryan Ramcyzk has been great, and Cesar Ruiz has pieced together some really good games. James Hurst and Andrus Peat have had their downs but have been really solid as of late. Erik McCoy had a rough game against Seattle but has been solid as well. The communication aspect of the unit was a big reason of their failures early in the year.

FYI, Michael Thomas is OUT on Sunday vs the Bengals.

And Olave's status is still questionable.

Suddently the Saints are THIN (again) @ WR.
