Re: Denver Will Be Payton’s Next Job
SP has frequented The Herd with Colin Cowherd a few times as of late..
It could be serving as a precursor of what's to come. An extra way for the west to get acclimated to him early on... Chargers could be the landing spot.. Didn't he mention that that would be a place he'd entertain to serve as head coach? Or maybe it's Denver lol |

Re: Denver Will Be Payton’s Next Job
Has Sean specifically said he doesn’t wanna coach the Saints again? I’m trying to figure out why people are predicting where he goes. I know he said he might return for the right situation, but he says a lot of sh!t. Am I missing something?

It’s a valid question I suppose. I guess it’s just kind of feels like living with your ex wife.

If I was a betting man, my money would be on the Chargers. Large market, stud young QB. Decent overall team. He bought a house on the West Coast.

Re: Denver Will Be Payton’s Next Job
A few considerations..
First off, Sean is not looking for a paycheck he is looking for a good fit which narrows the field down considerably. A good fit with the ownership and GM, not the players. He has stated this publicly. That means the possibilities are already decided in Sean's head. If you were GM and knowingly on that short list, why would you give anything up next year when he is free the following? Sean is not a player and Loomis cant just trade him away because the offer is right, he can trade the option but Sean can still remain retired and have a say the next year. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings but some people need to remember that he is not a player, he is a coach and if I were him and you trade away draft picks to get me, I am not going to you. You just traded away my ability to start building. |

I can't see him in Denver. Chargers perhaps. Bears maybe.

And then if you do wait there will be a few more openings a year later and more competition. I think if he is the guy you want you have to go get him. Just my thoughts though and NFL GMs have never seemed real interested in them. |

Re: Denver Will Be Payton’s Next Job
Yep. There's no reason that team shouldn't have been in the playoffs the past couple of years. Coaching has been atrocious. They'll probably end up missing again this year even though they should be a wild card with KC being tops in the division.
