We need a way to get back into the first round and select a QB because injuries and QB play are holding this team back. Payton could give us back one last gift. I have a lot of respect for the way Andy Dalton is playing right now, but it's not good enough and we'll have multiple mediocre seasons in a row with him as the QB if we were healthy.

He’s a FA after this season. Dalton isn’t the plan to lead them forward. I’m rooting for them to sign Minshew and draft Hooker as he could slip to the second round with his injury.

and sustained success of said franchise.

revamped culture. desirable destination.

And a handful of plays from reaching 2 more Superbowls.

Plus overall value of franchise increased tremendously.

All very valid points, but again, would that team be willing to part with that hefty a sum for 1 guy?

I'm not naysaying, I'd love if they did, but I doubt any team would sign him if it meant paying us that amount.

Oh I see your point and kinda worry/think it could work out that the Saints get little or nothing because the ball is ultimately in Payton's court. I was just piling praise on Payton.

I was chatting with my dad the other day and he posed a question. If you are running the Saints and Payton contacts you and says I want to coach again, what do you do? Do you ask if he wants to return to NO? If he says no, do you ask him why not? What id he says he will only go to a certain team and tells you he and that team are willing to wait two years until he is a "FA" coach? What would you do? It brings up a lot of questions.

How many times have we given up two first round picks for a single player? How many times have we given up three picks for a single player? I think that somebody like Sean Payton is well worth the first round and a second or three second round draft picks. All of those could go towards helping us get a quarterback next year.

I sincerely hope some team does jump and pays that price, I really do. I would love to find a franchise QB for the next 12-15 years in this draft.

Yeah agreed, I think recently we've lost far too much talent and got nothing in return, because it happened during free agency rather than trade.

Marcus Williams, Trey Hendrickson, Vonn Bell all come to mind.

I think the Houston Texans are a sleeper team for Payton. They'll have two high first round picks to work with, including probably the #1 for Bryce Young, a new diamond-in-the-rough RB, and cap space to retool the roster. Payton might like building a culture and facing a big challenge, like he first did with New Orleans post-Katrina.
