Coming into this week there were 276 players currently on IR across the league and more than that out with injuries, in addition. The Rams alone placed three starters on IR this past week. If you have the time visit some fan forums around the league. Every one of them it seems has reoccurring threads talking about their injury woes and they all mention "strength and conditioning" as one of the problems.![]()
Personally, I believe the players are simply bigger, stronger, and faster and injuries are becoming more and more unpreventable. Another issue is the equipment. Shoulder pads and other body padding has shrunk tremendously over recent years and shoes have become lighter and lighter providing less and less support. I read that the shoes alone has led to greater numbers of plantar and toe injuries. |
