Saints @ 49ers Game Day Thread

1 Attachment(s)
For the second consecutive week, the New Orleans Saints will face a foe they used to know very well, as they travel to the Bay Area to take on a former NFC West rival in the San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately for the Saints, if one were to go by the linesmakers projections, this one could be a lot like those games of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s when the Black and Gold were regular double-digit underdogs.

https://e7n9s5t9.stackpathcdn.com/ar...-vs-saints.jpg

Many of those younger than 35 or so might be surprised when they learn this will be the 77th time in NFL history these two teams will meet, as they faced off twice per year from 1970 through 2001.

Although the series is lopsided in the 49ers’ favor, there have been many memorable games, which we will mention below, as well as the current spread, TV information, the referees for Sunday’s game, uniforms the two teams will wear and the starting quarterbacks’ stats and win totals against the other.

This one feels scary. Gotta stock up on extra cigs and aspirin for sure. With some good JUJU, and some surprise play-calling, might be a most pleasant upset! WHODAT!

Man if we’d have beat that horrible Steelers team a couple weeks ago, we’d be 5-6 right now instead of 4-7. What a terrible game to lay an egg.

Regardless, this 9er team is pretty good and our secondary has been suspect. If the Saints have any shot at all, they need to get some turnovers. I’m not gonna get my hopes up on this one.

I feel the same way about the 49ers that my cat feels about squirt guns.

I guess we're as healthy as we're going to be. Either we flex some muscle or we're wimps. If we're wimps, it's a shame because I still think this is one of the most talented teams in the NFL.... sans Coaching.

It’s it possible to completely get rid of a roster?

Just frustration coming out from seeing the same thing week after week. That would never happen.

I’ll be a fan until I die.

It's possible to get rid of a lot of a roster but you have to be willing to possibly lose a lot of games. Then again look at the Falcons, they got rid of a ton of dead weight in Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Deion Jones and have a younger team with more draft picks and tons of cap space next year, and yet they are as/more competitive than us. The cap hits they took to get rid of Ryan and Jones cost them the opportunity to sign amazing players like Landry and Mathieu and forced them to try young mid round picks with upside, but sometimes that works better. I think that with good coaching we could do the right thing and use any cap flexibility we have to get rid of bad contracts not sign shaky vets like Landry and Mathieu, and still be surprisingly competitive. But if we allow ourselves to be ruled by fear like Loomis does, then we F the future and put everything toward keeping and acquiring questionable aging vets under the false premise that this is the only way we can 'win now.'

49ers getting beat on the line so they either hold or Jimmy G is suddenly rushed.

PJ injured. Walked it off on sidelines.
Cam playing on right side of Dline. Wonder if it’s because of the eye.
