One person close to Payton and familiar with his thinking believes a return to the Saints is possible "if things go sideways" in New Orleans. He went so far as to rank the Saints No. 1 on the list of teams Payton might coach in 2023 if he elects to return to coaching.

Is Goodell's disdain for the Saints greater than Brady's favoritism? This would certainly put the refs in a tricky spot.

Not sure how I would feel about that. Brady in a Saints uniform would be difficult to accept.

I don’t see Payton coming back to New Orleans! We will get draft picks for him and should trade Thomas for more! With Shaheed and Olave, Thomas is expendable! Just sign another Veteran wide receiver and draft our QB of the future. I would love to see us get a new OC and DC! Bryce Young should be our target!
