Mr Irrelevant 2022... Should we?

He just beat the crap outta TB and Brady.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brock_Purdy

Should we sign and pick up Purdy for cheap or even trade for a 7th rounder ?

Re: Mr Irrelevant 2022... Should we?

He will probably be the starting QB next year for San Fran. We’d have a better chance at getting Jimmy G next year after they decide to trade him.

I would rather trade back in the 2nd round for a late 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder and then flip those to the Eagles for Hurts and CDG if players are on sale at their original draft position.

Jimmy G can’t stay healthy and I don’t think he’s an upgrade. I’d rather roll the dice on Minshew but we need a young, guy in here. Hooker. Levis. Somebody to develop.

"Pick him up for cheap".

"Purdy" sure his stock is at an all-time high right about now.

Re: Mr Irrelevant 2022... Should we?

He's signed to a four year deal and was taken in the 7th round. No way SF takes a pick from the same round.

Purdy tempting eh? Go On!! Jump ALL Over Him!!!
REMEMBER: One game or season does a career make.

See: Matt Kassel went 11 - 5 subbing for Tom Brady. Career record 52 - 55.
Case Keenum (remember him?) went 13 - 3 with the Vikings. Career Record 29 - 35

Jim DelGaizo (Going Way Back!!) Free agent QB who played in 4 of the 17 - 0 Dolphins record setting team. So tempting Shula got TWO second round picks from the Packers for his services. Career: Comp. 44 - 103 Int. 10 TD'S. 4

Examples of "One Year Wonders" from the world of NFL QB'S
Don't forget: Taysom Hill Winning record as a starter!

Absutively correct. The Dallas backup QB OTOH. Cheaper backup, prolly.

Our QB situation is FUBAR right now. Ian Book showed flashes. This kid Prudy might be the same as Book. Is there a QB somewhere bagging groceries that needs an opportunity, even if it's the Saints? Now where have I heard this story somewhere...

Maybe we should have drafted him to start with.

Re: Mr Irrelevant 2022... Should we?

I found the biggest issue with Ian Book is he played scared. That was pretty obvious to me in that Miami game and it didn't improve any during his extensive pre-season action this past year. Right decision was made to release him, I don't think that can be easily corrected through coaching.

Joe Montana would have been playing scared if he had Caleb Benenoch and Calvin Throckmorton blocking for him in that Miami game. I was there. He didn't have time to make the first read. Forget about making a second read or even throwing the ball away. Our starting WR's, Easop Winston and Lil'Jordan Humphrey, along with starting TE, Nick Vannett, saw nothing but wounded ducks.

The answer is clear
We all know it’s true
The guy for us
Is Gardner Minshew!

I thought that Book
Was worth a look
We were not saved
And he got waived
