I just think I'm pretty sure we've seen the last of Michael Thomas in a Saints' uniform, and I don't really care what happens to him -- if we can get something for him, great, even something minimal; and if we can't, then he rides the bench until he's gone. I just don't think of him as really part of the team anymore.

He showed in the first two games this season that he still can't be stopped. We'd have a killer starting three with Thomas, Olave, and Shaheed. You don't bench your best WR. It doesn't matter what some fans may think, but as long as the team thinks he's part of the team then he is whether those fans think so or not.

True Dat! So we can expect ten unstoppable Michael Thomas games in every 50 the Saints have to play.

Also true. What does the team think?

I comprehend what you are saying, but as a fan, I believe it does matter what all fans think. They are the "customers".

With the way that his contract is structured he will be a New Orleans Saint next year. Hopefully, he'll be healthy enough to contribute to the team this time around. If not, trading him next year when it's more affordable makes sense. f he's healthy he's still good!

You are assuming that he will get injured again. And what does the team think? If they didn't want him back they wouldn't be putting so much effort into making sure he'll be able to return healthy. As for what some fans want, no it doesn't matter at all. Most fans want nothing more than the team to be successful. They don't have some sort of contrived agenda against Thomas. As for the rest, once again, the team doesn't give a flying rat's ass. They also want nothing more than to win and if they feel having Thomas on the field gives them that best chance guess where he'll be? That's right ... on the field in the Saints' black and gold.

I know of no precedent in the entire history of the nfl where a player missed 40 of 50 games and then returned to be reliable long term. Betting tens of millions of dollars on something that have never happened before is not wise. It would be worth any cap hit in the short term to flush less money down the toilet long term. Waiting because of how his contract is structured would be dumb because Loomis will just restructure it again where we have to wait next offseason too. This is why Peat is still on the team.

I know of no precedent where the very best WR in the NFL missed 40 of 50 games and didn't return to dominate the league once again and remain reliable long term. Creating dead cap while allowing what could once again be the most dominating player in the league to walk away and lead another team to the Lombardi Trophy would be dumb. That's why I expect the brilliant Loomis to once again convert Thomas' base salary of $15.5 million and his roster and workout bonuses of 950K to signing bonuses to free up cap to help make another run for the championship in 2023.
