Unable to keep Latavius vs Ingram & then the Ceedy trade . Notice how Philly was able to use him EFFECTIVELY at safety. Instead of paying Marcus Williams (his range is elite), they went with the HB & injury-prone Marcus Maye.

The O line has regressed & poor (Throckmorton/Hurst) DEPTH.

Cam Jordan & Demario are another year older & guys like Davenport/Turner are brittle. Not even sure if Tanoh or MD walk in Free Agency.

Realistically, this team needs a LOT (starting with coaches) if they ever want to truly compete for a Lombardi again. Oh, did I mention we have no quarterback?? Watching the title games over the weekend, you either must have an ELITE QB or a sound defensive front with forward-thinking coaches to make it to the big boy bowl.

IMO they are 3, or 4 years away from competing ...

Yup. They won that with Coach Dungy's players. Three of the next four years under Gruden they had a losing record winning only four and five games in two of those years. I'm sure you remember that stretch, right? Had they not moved on from Dungy and thrown away two 1st rounders AND two 2nd rounders they might have won multiple Super Bowls during that stretch.

Hello? Yes, hello to immediately becoming the doormat of the NFC South.

He!! we throw away first round picks every draft, no difference really. Throwing those 2fers away has cost us quality depth and players that could be good in rotation, not to mention actual starters on the front lines. So if u think Tampa and those picks cost them how come u think different on the Saints? It's like a slow death either way. Tampa just died quicker!! Of course we might have a quick one coming up this season.

That doormat used us as a doormat twice this season... and stepped further into the post-season than we did. Hello.

What does any of that have to do with a team being unwilling to give up two 1st round picks for Payton? You lost me there.

The Gruden deal was the basis for the argument that Payton was worth two 1st's. That's what I was addressing. I can't see any team making that same mistake that the Bucs made in that dumb trade to get Gruden.

Injuries happen to ALL teams but GOOD DEPTH is key.

Saints need to observe and implement.
He had zero sacks and 1 tackle sounds like trey destroying LTs left and right
