Potentially Available QB's for 2023

A nice list from which to work from spotrac.com.

So all retreads and no new blood?

Re: Potentially Available QB's for 2023

I would like to draft a QB on the first or second day without utilizing future years 1st-2nd round picks to trade up.

But if we had to pick QBs from this list:

Mike White because he has shown high upside in his good performances and if we get a good qb coach this year or later maybe he has a high ceiling. I worry he gets injured easily though.

Jordan Love if he is cheap because we dont know how good he is or isnt. He probably has a chip on his shoulder from deaing with Aaron. I seem to remember that he did better in the preseason this year than in the past. I could see taking a flier if he is cheap.

Andy Dalton because we know he is ok in our system, if he is cheap.

I think Winston would benefit from going to KC or MIA etc as a backup and working with a QB guru. He is probably done but you cant ignore 2021 stats with a guru.

I think we need to rebuild therefore I dont want an expensive game manager like Garappalo or Tannehill. We are not that close to a ring that we should sell out the future to gain a sliver of an edge short term with a player who will get hurt and be a liability in later years. Unless their market tanks and they are cheap for 1 year like Dalton.

Jones is young but probably mediocre. If his market is very low and he could be cheap short term I am not opposed. But I think someone will pay for upside and I think there is a higher ceiling on a 2nd round pick while I am willing to accept a lower floor on said pick.

Over the last month, the Saints rank in the bottom half for the worst offense in the NFL. After the Philly game, Dennis named Dalton as "efficient & a starter in this league".

Just another reason why the Saints are 7-9 & already eliminated from the postseason.

The thinking of this team's direction (player personnel) in 2023 with Allen is mind-boggling. This man is convinced he can win games with Dalton as QB.

2023 could be rough.

I'm not supporting Dalton as our 2023 starter, K, but one must look at the lack of health of the offensive line and the playcalling of the offensive coordinator when evaluating the QB.

That said, Dalton does have the second best QB rating of his career this season (95.3 - the 11th best in the NFL this season) and has completed 67.1% of his passes, a career high and the 9th best in the NFL.

Once again, I hope we get something better, but Dalton has clearly well outperformed my expectations this season.

They aren't including the draft possibilities. Personally I'd rather go with a veteran QB AND take a flyer on a rookie hoping we defy all odds and actually get one that can have a decent chance at starting someday.

Payton to Arizona.

Top 5 Pick to Saints.

Welcome to New Orleans CJ Stroud.

You really think Payton would want to go to the Cardinals? I can't see it. Murray just had reconstructive surgery on his knee. He's likely out for most of next season with the game he plays. I can kind of see Denver or San Diego, but Denver already gave up the boat for Russell.

Just my opinion!

- Stable ownership. Second generation, family-owned (no minority invest)
- Dome
- Great weather
- Proximity to West Coast (daughter)

Sean Payton's quote (albeit non committal) “I think I know that family well enough,” Payton said of the Bidwill family.

- Draft capital

Round Selection
1. 4
2. 35
3. 68
3. 97
4. 105
5. 170
6. 179
6. 214
7. 222

I can see where draft capital could interest the Saints, but not Payton. Anywhere he goes would have to give up very important draft capital just for his rights. Anywhere but the Saints themselves, of course. Payton also mentioned a good working relationship with the front office and a QB as two important factors. Not sure who meets both those "requirements".
