First in an interview:

Highlight: @readdanwrite asks @drewbrees what the star NFL quarterback thinks about "players kneeling again when the NFL season starts."

@drewbrees: “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.”

Not long after that clip started making the rounds on Twitter, Saints receiver Michael Thomas fired off two tweets that seemed to be aimed at his quarterback.

This was much later explained as initially protecting his QB saying he didn't understand the meaning of the protest.

And then directed at no one in particular:

We don’t care if you don’t agree and whoever else how about that.

— Michael Thomas (@Cantguardmike) June 3, 2020

That's it. Nothing more.

Soon after Thomas and Brees spoke privately and resolved the confusion and misunderstanding. They resolved it like most adults. Afterword Brees said he then understood the protests had nothing to do with the flag or it's significance, but was just using the moment to bring to light inequalities related to law enforcement.

Exactly. I wanted to know from that other poster what did Thomas say that was so wrong. I mean, it seems like that whole movement was perverted by those who don't agree with it into something that it wasn't. It wasn't anti military. I did 13 years in the USAF and I found nothing wrong with anything from that time, as did many vets that I know. It's kinda like what the far right has done with the term "woke". Taken something that was originally aimed at keeping aware of police brutality and turning into any number of non related topics.

Thank you for your service and your input. When all this was going on I mentioned that my late father, a 30 year USAF veteran (served two tours of duty in the Viet Nam "conflict"), would have been in support of those athletes. I was lambasted by some that said there's no way he'd feel that way and no real veteran would feel that way. I think I know my late father better than them.

Well, I know plenty of veterans that feel the same way. It’s a shame that wanting equality can be so divisive in this day and age. Here’s to a great season of Saints football!

The problem I have with how Michael Thomas is that he should have talked with his friend in private before raking him over the coals. This topic is personal to Drew and Thomas did not show him any respect when he called him out. It was actually, deeply disrespectful.

Did you read above what he said? What part of that was "raking him over the coals", Rugs? Thomas only made two comments in reference to the whole thing.

"He don’t know no better." <--- That's telling others that he believed Brees didn't understand the issue. That's actually defending Brees who had already received flack from others by that time including Malcolm Jenkins.

"We don’t care if you don’t agree and whoever else how about that." <--- This was not directed at Brees directly but at others who had commented on the subject. The lack of correct punctuation makes it hard to understand. To make it more clear, "We don’t care if you don’t agree, and whoever else (doesn't agree). How about that?"

To the best of my knowledge that's all that Thomas ever said that could be tied to Brees' interview answer. This was so blown out of proportion. I believe that's what Big_L was trying to point out earlier in this thread. People were blasting Thomas over things they thought he said without ever even knowing what he did, or more precisely didn't say.

Amazing how Guido is always personally involved in conversations between Saints coaches and players alike.

Exactly where did I ever say or even vaguely imply that I was personally involved in conversations? Brees himself said that he talked with Thomas and Jenkins soon after and cleared the air.

And why does it seem like every other post by you involves trying to ride my ass? Go back and look at your last 100 posts. Can we not just be as adult as Thomas and Brees here? Other than a couple of posters we're all Saints fans.
