Prayers Needed for Smashmouth

All,

Smashmouth went into surgery today for a routine proceedure. I won't go into details for the sake of privacy.

The surgery had some unexpected turns. He survived the surgery but, the next few days will determine next course of action and outcome.

Please say a prayer for Smash and his wife and family.

As you may or may not know, Smash is a big part of keeping Black and Gold active, free and alive. Please pass some Holy Spirit waves his way!

Thank You One and All! :bng:

-Halo

Nahhh brother. You don't get to do this in a 7-10 year. No how no way. We all have to hang around until at least the next Super Bowl.

Now, rub some fuc*ing dirt on it and get back on this field. Too many people depend on you.

If you don't, we are all going to dawn hospital gowns and come lay next to you in that hospital bed until you get up. That's not going to be a pretty sight. :bng:

UPDATE - so he's alive and texted me at like 5am. Had a proof of life txt msg, so it was him. He's ok for now. He still needs prayers!

He will be in the hospital until further notice.

When I find out more today, I'll let you know.

Re: Prayers Needed for Smashmouth

UPDATE 2
  1. He's ALIVE
  2. Smashmouth had a complication during surgery, but it was reasonably explainable
  3. He's going to be fine so long as he gets through the healing process
  4. Because he's still healing, keep sending the Holy Spirit Waves for a few more days

You have to understand when I get calls, txt msgs, PM's, or emails from husbands/wives/family of members, or especially from members trying to "reach out" to tell me they may go down, I have to post so we can answer those calls for prayers and thoughts of galactic positivity (for you athiest folks).

We are the House Black & Gold - There is no PoBoy that goes uneaten, there is no call for prayers that goes unanswered!

Look Smashmouth. Get better. Take your time, get to 100%

Re: Prayers Needed for Smashmouth

I am so blessed to be loved by all. I can't thank everybody enough for the positive thoughts and prayers.

I beat cancer for the second time. Dr. Vargas at Ochsner is the man and a master surgeon. I had colon cancer in the sigmoid area. He excised it by performing a partial colectomy. So rerouting my plumbing by cutting out the bad. The complication was that the spleen was fused to the colon, making the separation highly challenging and potentially dire with a possible spleen damage. He used robotics for 4 hours then had to call an audible by going to laparoscopy for the next 2.5 hours to finish the job. He said I was his most challenging case in his career. Everyone's prayers guided his blessed hands for a highly successful outcome. Everything works, albeit slightly differently. I made it home tonight basically two days after the procedure, incredibly. Can't say enough on how well the Ochsner team performed.

Recovery and healing for the next 6 weeks to 3 months.

I was really worried the plumbing wouldn't work like before... meaning potentially a colostomy. Thanks again for all the prayers. :bng:

So glad you are out and on the healing path now Smash.

As someone who had both parents diagnosed with cancer in the same year and both survived, it's really a blessing when you hear people beating this disease.

Big props to that surgeon, sounds like he did an outstanding job. Glad to see you posting on here again, things operating differently is a small price to pay when it means you are still around your loved ones. I think you're due some well deserved bed rest and people waiting on you hand and foot!
