We all know what he was capable of with a good qb so let’s go out and get him one and see what he can do. Going to a game can really allow you to see the whole field better and I can assure you, guys we’re getting open, just crappy qb play for the most part. Makes me feel like he can still be productive for game day. On the other hand, I’d like a fresh new mind that can bring in some new innovative ideas to fit the modern NFL. Enter Booby Slowik
Bingo! I was at every home game and we had open receivers all the time. Dalton was either making a single read/throwing it away, missing the receiver, or hitting the open guy and he just plain dropped it. Sure, Carmichael was what I thought too conservative on 1st and 2nd downs, but maybe he simply didn't have confidence in the QB.

Pete is taking a lot of heat for players not executing plays.
Yes, Carmichael made some head scratching calls throughout the season.
So, he’s not getting off the hook that easy.

Exactly my thinking there, cmike.

I think it's wise to wait until more moves (or lack of) have been made.

I'm trying not to get caught up in knee jerk reactions.

It's entirely possible another mind is brought on to learn Pete's system while Pete is on staff and then eventually take it to new levels.

That's my hope anyway.

It's where I stand as well.

There's a reason Carmichael never left for another gig. He isn't strong enough on his own. Payton was the vocal leader, holding everyone accountable. Pete is the demure figure in the background scheming brilliant plays.

It became obvious (and in hindsight) that Pete wasn't going to be as successful without the leadership of Sean Payton.

So yeah, don't knock the guy for being retained. He's the architect of one of the most successful offensive systems. One we desperately need to keep intact.

Now the team needs to bring in a younger version of Pete to learn, emulate and eventually evolve the system under Pete's tutelage.

How do we know he was scheming plays? He didn’t call plays. We don’t know if he designed them. This was a true season seeing what he can do without Payton, and it was dog ****. If Pete comes back I’m taking a year off from the Saints.

Some folks here, and particularly here for some reason would defend anything the Saints do, they’d praise bringing jamarcus russell in.

Mindset.

“Some” are simply ok with average, mediocrity.

Mindset.

Some want excellence as much as anyone else but choose not to constantly spend their time *****ing and moaning about things out of their control.

I still cannot imagine, or get into the "mindset" of a customer, a consumer, a FAN that can just sit back and continue to believe that the law of supply and demand doesn't play a part in a (BIG) business, such as the Sports/Entertainment Industry. Of course it's in your control. You just don't want to demand better from your service provider. Y'all just sit back and enjoy mediocrity (at best), dismal performance (at its worst), and keep forking over your hard-earned bucks and life force to be content with more of the same. It's clinical Masochism.

I'm not defending "anything the Saints do", in fact I've been very vocal in my criticism. I even stated Pete wasn't effective without SP...

If you're suggesting the Offensive Coordinator of the last 16 years wasn't designing plays throughout the week then I'm not sure there's much more to debate about because that's just not plausible.
